About the job:
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Providing German law advice to the Corporate and Investment Banking division of the Bank, both locally, to the head office and to our international branches;
  • Drafting, reviewing and advising on:
    • lending and finance documentation such as LMA-based syndicated credit facilities, bilateral loan agreements, project and export finance transactions, club deals and security documents;
    • international trade finance arrangements, including supply chain and receivables finance, letters of credit and guarantees;
    • a wide variety of contracts relating to, but not limited to, fixed income, structured finance; debt capital markets; and reviewing, drafting and negotiating master agreements (e.g. DRV, ISDA, GMSLA).
  • Analysing and advising the business areas on all relevant German/EU regulatory matters and ensuring that contracts remain in compliance with applicable law and regulation;
  • Liaising with outside counsel as and when required as well as with other CIB lawyers in other jurisdictions;
  • Keeping abreast of legislative changes that may affect the Bank.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of policies.
  • Providing training on recent legal developments for the business teams.
  • Supporting the wider CIB legal team on matters of German law.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
  • Fully qualified lawyer or LLM in Germany;
  • At least 1‑3 years post‑qualification experience working in a law firm or in‑house legal department.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCE / PROFICIENCIES REQUIRED
  • A good level of experience and proficiency in one or more of the practice areas above and enthusiasm to become proficient in new areas and products;
  • Ability to work well and efficiently under pressure;
  • Ability to manage a high workload for various business areas;
  • Robust and thorough approach to drafting and reviewing of documentation;
  • Strong ability to work effectively in multi‑cultural, geographically dispersed teams;
  • Good understanding of the economic background and the regulatory aspects of banking and finance.
  • Fluent in business English, basic German skills (with room for improvement); Spanish or Turkish language skills helpful but not essential.
