Zusammenfassung

gridX GmbH is seeking a Lead Engineer / Tech Lead to join the EVCI engineering team. You will combine deep technical work with team empowerment in a 70/30 split, delivering robust software for smart charging and energy management across Europe.

You will mentor peers, architect distributed systems, and drive adoption of Docker-based, scalable solutions while collaborating with backend and edge components for configuration, cloud EMS integrations, and admin dashboards.

Qualifikationen

• 3+ years of production experience with Golang, or expert-level proficiency in Rust or C++, with a Go-based ecosystem.
• 5+ years of overall software engineering experience with a track record of delivering production-ready software.
• First leadership experience: mentoring or leading a small team (about 30% of time).
• Coaching mindset focused on advocacy, guidance, and enabling engineers to excel.
• Experience designing and operating resilient distributed architectures, including containerization with Docker.
• Energy domain curiosity is a plus but not required.
• Observability: familiarity with SQL and analytics; Grafana is a plus.
• Edge computing experience or interest in IoT networks is desirable.

Join the EVCI engineering team, which builds state-of-the-art energy management solutions focused on optimizing energy consumption at charging stations throughout Europe.

The team is responsible for creating the EVCI product at gridX, which means working on two major components: On the gridBox, our local controller, we integrate rule-based approaches and advanced optimization techniques to offer smart charging solutions to operators of EV charging stations for our public parking, fast-charging, and logistics customers. Connected to this, we also own backend components that enable configuration, cloud EMS integrations, and interfaces for our admin dashboard.

You will spend 70% of your time as an individual contributor close to the technology (coding and architecture) and 30% of your time taking over leadership responsibilities to help your team grow.

We're looking for a Lead Engineer / Tech Lead who loves building great software and enjoys mentoring and enabling peers. You bring a strong engineering mindset, a pragmatic approach to collaboration, and the ambition to grow into a leadership role within a fast-evolving environment.

• Software engineering background: 3+ years of production experience with Golang, or expert-level proficiency in a comparable systems language such as Rust or C++, combined with a strong willingness to work in a Go-based ecosystem.
• Production-grade track record: 5+ years of overall software engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering robust software solutions into production.
• Evolution into Leadership: First experience in mentoring, technical leading, or a strong desire to take the next career step by taking over people leadership responsibilities for a small team (approx. 30% of your time).
• Coaching & empowering peers: A coaching-first mindset with a focus on advocacy, technical guidance, psychological safety, and enabling engineers to do their best work.
• Distributed systems & virtualization: Experience designing, deploying, and operating resilient distributed architectures, including containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Domain curiosity: Previous experience in the energy sector is a plus, but not a requirement. What matters most is a genuine curiosity for solving complex technical, physical, and data-driven challenges.
• Observability: Familiarity with SQL and modern analytics frameworks is a strong plus. Experience with Grafana is an advantage.
• Edge computing: Experience with (or strong interest in) IoT networks and edge computing environments.
