gridX in Munich is looking for an Engineering Manager / Team Lead to spearhead the development of EV Charging Infrastructure. In this role, you'll blend hands-on engineering with people management, leading a team that shapes strategic product offerings for the gridBox local controller.

The ideal candidate has extensive software engineering experience and strong capabilities in backend development and team leadership. The position offers remote working options, 30 vacation days, and personalized development budgets.

As Engineering Manager / Team Lead – EV Charging Infrastructure, you will combine hands‑on engineering with people leadership. Your responsibilities include leading the EVCI development team, shaping our product strategy for the gridBox local controller and backend components, and ensuring high‑quality delivery of software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the EVCI product team of engineers, balancing individual contribution and team leadership (approx. 70/30 split).

• Drive delivery of robust, production‑grade software solutions for smart charging stations across Europe.

• Collaborate with product, operations and data teams to translate business requirements into technical architecture.

• Ensure software quality, scalability and reliability in containerised and distributed environments.

• Champion a culture of continuous improvement, constructive feedback and psychological safety.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience; at least 2 years in a team‑lead or technical‑lead role.
• Strong production‑grade track record: hands‑on delivery and operation of production systems.
• Proven experience in backend development (Go, Rust or C++); expertise in Go is desirable.
• Hands‑on experience with distributed and containerised architectures (Docker).
• Familiarity with observability tools, SQL and modern analytics frameworks; Grafana experience a plus.
• Experience at scale in fast‑changing organisations.
• Interest or experience in edge computing and IoT networks.
• Coaching mindset, advocacy and focus on engineering empowerment.
