Zero to One Search, a recruitment agency for fintech talent, is presenting a Junior PHP Backend Developer role in Frankfurt. You will join a dynamic tech team building scalable payment services and modern banking features in an agile environment with flat hierarchies.

You will work with Symfony 8 (Doctrine ORM, Messenger), PHP 8.3+, and FrankenPHP worker mode, contributing to long‑term banking platform development and performance optimization.

Qualifikationen

A dynamic fintech company within a well-established digital group is building the future of mobile banking, and they’re looking for a (Junior) PHP Backend Developer to join their growing team. You Will:

• You develop payment services — from conception and API development to operation. The platform processes several million transactions per day across multiple data centers.
• You'll build new services with Symfony 8 (Doctrine ORM, Messenger) and further develop existing services from PHP 8.3 onwards — you decide where it leads.
• You work in FrankenPHP in worker mode: long-lived processes, no bootstrap per request, no state that survives a request.
• You divide business logic into domains with clear layering — entities, services, repositories, explicit contracts. Business logic remains free from infrastructure.
• You incorporate resilience into the design: failover across multiple data centers, asynchronous processing with messenger, and you decide what stays synchronized.
• You make performance measurable: OpenTelemetry traces, slow query logs, optimized queries and indexes, caching via Redis and APCu
• You'll be working with PHPStan Level 8 without a baseline, Slevomat, Rector, or code reviews that focus on design, not formatting. You'll be collaborating with the people who built this platform and can answer your questions.

Requirements:

• You have good programming skills in at least one language, a high level of comprehension, and enjoy software development.
• You have solid experience in PHP development; knowledge of a modern PHP framework such as Symfony or Laravel is desirable.
• You are proficient in relational databases, Git, Docker, and working in a Linux shell environment. Experience with AI-based tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, Gemini, Windsurf) is an advantage.
• You have high quality standards and work in a structured and careful manner. Your fluent German and English skills, both spoken and written, make you the perfect fit.
