Job Overview

We are looking to strengthen our Ground System team supporting ISS (Columbus) Operations, delivering services to our customer based in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich with a talented and ambitious team member. If you have an eye for detail and love working in a dynamic and challenging workplace, then this could be your opportunity. This is partly an office hours and shift position working in a rotating shift pattern 16×5 (i.e., no night shift or shift on weekends) with lots of opportunity to train in one of the most exciting space projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Operations support in 16×5 rotating shift pattern and offline set-up;
  • Supporting scheduled simulations and test operations;
  • Preparation of the ground segment systems for scheduled activities, especially the Data Services System and Monitoring and Control System subsystems of scheduled preventive maintenance;
  • Delivering and working closely with Subsystem Engineers to ensure that any service changes are correctly implemented and documented;
  • On-call services might be requested;
  • Updating and validating Ground Control Team procedure and training material.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Engineering degree in Information Technology or Aerospace-related stream (or relevant work experience);
  • System administration in LINUX environments, best in an aerospace domain;
  • System monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting in the Operations environment;
  • Confident in dealing with Operations requirements;
  • Good communication skills and a team player;
  • Fast learner and willing to improve;
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision and take responsibility;
  • Ability for structured troubleshooting and analysis;
  • Ability to prioritize different parallel activities;
  • Capability of following and implementing standard procedures;
  • Problem-solving aptitude;
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Understanding of virtualization and networking technologies;
  • Knowledge in Storage and/or Linux Backup systems.
