The IT officer is responsible for administrative support and work performed in the IT team of Fairtrade International with the purpose of:

• Be an enabler for FI users to work effectively with given IT tools.
• Support ongoing IT administration and user support issues.

Roles and Responsibilities

Provide administrative, organisational, logistical, and other work related services to assist the work of the IT Unit, such as:

• Assist Users in the effective use of existing applications
• Manage and Administer Microsoft 365 Environment. Configuring and troubleshooting various M365 applications like SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, and OneDrive
• Train and support in the use of Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools
• Be an enabler of IT Solutions for our user base
• Monitoring the performance of M365 systems, ensuring high availability, and performing routine maintenance tasks
• Assist users in identifying existing IT Compliant applications required to fulfil their needs and assessing other options when existing systems do not fulfil these needs
• Help users navigate the IT Framework Agreement to ensure all new applications have been checked for compliance
• Assisting with user support requests on‑site, with telephone and as well with request tracker tool.
• Assist the ICT‑Manager on user administration, user support and server maintenance of Fairtrade International’s ICT infrastructure.
• Setup, change and move computer workplace plus peripheral devices.
• Support FI telephone system & smart phone users.
• Preparation and maintenance of IT documentation and training material
• Keeping up-to-date with the latest updates, features, and security best practices
• Perform other duties and tasks, consistent with the skills and expertise as required.

Skills and Competencies required

Level of education: The position holder will have a university/master’s degree in Studies in Computer Science or Equivalent.

Knowledge / Job Specific Competencies:

• 2 years of relevant experience in dealing with Microsoft Operation Systems, Microsoft 365 including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Azure. (E)
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Windows products, personal computer software set up and installation, PC hardware connectivity, TCP/IP protocol, in‑depth knowledge of PC operations, printer operations, print server operations, and network operations (E)
• Knowledge of Linux Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS (E)
• Fluency in German and English, any other language is an advantage (E)
• Problem solving mentality (E)
• High commitment to service delivery and solution‑oriented working practices (E)
• Good writing and verbal communication skills (E)
• An ability to work to tight deadlines and within a challenging environment (E)

Terms and Conditions

• This is a full‑time position (38.5 hours per week) within Fairtrade International.
• Location is at Fairtrade International offices in Bonn, Germany with the opportunity for hybrid work arrangements
• The office language is English.
• Salary as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Wholesale and Foreign Trade Industries for North Rhine Westphalia Group V and over tariff payments
