Job summary

Starflight Dynamics GmbH in Munich is seeking an experienced IT infrastructure and security lead to design and run the foundation for a defence-adjacent company. You will own devices, network, cloud and on‑prem capabilities with strong governance.

You will shape policy, manage onboarding, and prepare for government-mandated audits while enabling a small, fast-moving team. This is a permanent role with flexible hours and 30 days of vacation in Munich.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in IT infrastructure and/or information security, ideally with exposure to classified or controlled-information environments.
• Comfortable being the company’s first dedicated IT/security hire, setting policy as well as running infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Build IT and information-security foundation from the ground up.
• Own day-to-day IT infrastructure (devices, network, cloud and on-premises systems) for Munich and remote team.
• Select and roll out core IT tooling as headcount grows.
• Own information-security policy and practice for a defence-adjacent company handling sensitive programme data.
• Support controlled-information handling procedures and access controls.
• Prepare the company for government-mandated security certification or audit.
• Own IT onboarding and offboarding for new hires.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to the team.

Starflight Dynamics (SFDY) is a Munich-based SpaceTech company building the foundational technologies for Europe's next generation of orbital infrastructure. Founded in 2023, we develop dual-use systems for space and defence: a green, water-based orbital propulsion stack and modular platforms for in-orbit operations.Working with partners such as the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich and the BAAINBw, we're a small, ambitious team moving fast from prototype to orbit. Mission & responsibilities

You will build SFDY’s IT and information-security foundation from the ground up, running the infrastructure and setting the policy for a defence-adjacent company.

IT infrastructure

• Own day-to-day IT infrastructure (devices, network, cloud and on-premises systems) for our growing Munich team and our remote team
• Select and roll out core IT tooling as headcount grows
• Information security & compliance
• Own information-security policy and practice for a defence-adjacent company handling sensitive programme data
• Support controlled-information handling procedures and access controls
• Prepare the company for government-mandated security certification or audit

Onboarding & support

• Own IT onboarding and offboarding for new hires
• Provide day-to-day technical support to the team

What we are looking for

Must have

• 7+ years in IT infrastructure and/or information security, ideally with some exposure to classified or controlled-information environments (government, defence, or another regulated industry)
• Comfortable being the company’s first dedicated IT/security hire, setting policy as well as running infrastructure

Nice to have

• German
• Experience preparing an organisation for a security certification or audit
