A leading communication services provider in Hamburg is seeking an experienced IT Firewall Administrator. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and performance of our firewall and security infrastructure. Ideal candidates will have experience with Fortinet and SonicWall, along with solid knowledge of network security. As an IT Firewall Administrator, you are the guardian of our digital infrastructure. At one of our locations in Usingen near Frankfurt, Munich, or Hamburg, you ensure that our networks remain secure, high‑performing, and resilient at all times. You operate, monitor, and optimize our firewalls and security systems, guaranteeing that communication flows safely and reliably from the data center to the cloud. With your expertise and attention to detail, you set security standards that protect our critical communication services worldwide.

Your tasks

• Administration, configuration, and maintenance of our firewall and security infrastructure (Fortinet, SonicWall)
• Set‑up and operation of VPN and remote access solutions (SSL‑VPN, IPsec)
• Monitoring, analysis, and reporting of security‑relevant events using modern monitoring and logging tools
• Creation, maintenance, and continuous optimization of firewall rule sets in collaboration with specialist departments
• Implementation of security policies, network segmentation, and access control concepts
• Support with IT security audits, penetration tests, and vulnerability assessments
• Participation in infrastructure projects and further development of network security architecture
• Documentation of network topologies, configurations, and change processes

Your profile

• Completed vocational training or university degree in an IT‑related field (e.g., IT specialist for system integration, computer science, or similar)
• Several years of experience in administering firewall systems, ideally Fortinet and SonicWall
• Solid knowledge of network security, VPN, NAT, routing, and switching
• Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, SNMP)
• Understanding of IT security standards and compliance requirements
• Structured, responsible, and solution‑oriented working approach
• Strong communication skills, team‑oriented mindset, and confident handling of sensitive information
• Required language skills: German – C1, English – C1
