eleQtron in Siegen, Germany is seeking an Ion Trap Engineer (f/m/d) to join the System Operations & Characterization team. You will develop, set up and operate trapped-ion quantum computers and relevant test devices, collaborating with an international team of physicists and engineers.

• Master's or PhD in a relevant field.
• Experience in AMO physics experiments including lasers, laser cooling, laser spectroscopy, optics, microwaves, and vacuum systems.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Ion Trap Engineer (f/m/d) at eleQtron, Siegen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. A mid-level full time position in the System Operations & Characterization team, listed under hardware engineering.

Responsibilities

As an Ion Trap Engineer (f/m/d), you will be part of a team with a mission to develop, set up and operate our trapped-ion quantum computers and relevant test devices. You will collaborate closely with our international team of physicists and engineers from different disciplines. Depending on your level of experience, you will work on one or more of the followingtasks:

• Operate our quantum computers based on trapped ions
• Perform experiments in a laboratory environment and apply the results to the development of a mature product
• Assemble ion trap quantum computer hardware
• Characterize ion trap quantum computers with state-of-the-art experiments and measurement techniques in a laboratory environment
• Analyze and optimize the performance of our quantum computers
• Participate in hands-on R&D work

Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Physical Chemistry, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience
• Experience in AMO physics experiments, including lasers, laser cooling, laser spectroscopy, optics, microwaves, and vacuum systems
• Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: photonics, linear and nonlinear optics, high-frequency electronics, cryogenics, ultra-high vacuum systems, opto-electronics, and electrodynamics
• Fluent written and spoken English skills
• Creative, collaborative, and comfortable working in multicultural and interdisciplinary teams
