Huawei's Kepler Research Center in Jena is seeking an Intern - Camera Optical Design (m/f/d). You will work on optical design tasks, including imaging optics and meta-surfaces, and support the development of prototypes and experiments.

Candidates are currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program in optics, optoelectronics, or physics, with strong fundamentals in geometrical and physical optics and some experience in Python. English fluency and teamwork are essential.

Qualifikationen

• Currently enrolled as a Bachelor or Master student in optics, optoelectronics, or physics.
• Strong theoretical knowledge in geometrical, diffractive and/or physical optics; hands-on experience preferred.
• Experience in optical design and simulation; programming skills (Python) a plus.
• Strong willingness to explore innovative technologies and search literature and patents.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken) and able to work in a multicultural team.

Aufgaben

• Track top publications and patents on optical design and imaging.
• Perform industry progress and trend analyses and output technical insight reports.
• Perform design work for imaging optics and flat optics like meta-lens or DOEs.
• Assist create device specifications, build test setups, and collect/analyze data.

Intern - Camera Optical Design (m/f/d)

Your mission

• Track the top-level publications and patent about optical design, optical sensing, optical imaging, and nano/micro-optics applications, output literature analysis report
• Perform industry progress and trend analysis and assist identify high value technologies or directions for related business scope, output technical insight report
• Perform design work according to the project requirement, including traditional imaging optics like Mobile phone camera, telescope, microscope, and camera lens, or flat optics like meta-lens, diffraction optical elements
• Assist formulate device specifications and proceed manufacture process, help to build up experiment/test setup or prototype, and perform data collection, organization, and analysis

Your areas of expertise

• Currently enrolled as a Bachelor or Master student in optics, optoelectronics, or physics
• Strong theoretical knowledge in geometrical, diffractive and/or physical optics, applicants with hands-on experience is preferred
• Experience on optical design and simulation. Programming skills are considered as a plus, particularly experience with Python and/or other high-level scripting languages
• High interesting and strong willingness to exploring innovative technologies, ability and experience to independently search the literature and patent in optical area
• Fluent in English (written and oral) and open to cooperation and to work in a team with multiple cultural backgrounds collaboration
