Job summary

Cyberus Technology in Germany seeks an Infrastructure & Operations Engineer to own and operate our automated test infrastructure on real hardware. The role is hands-on, with a focus on Rust-based development to enhance reliability, observability, and operability across the system.

You will manage NixOS-based environments end-to-end, implement automation for hardware control, and improve monitoring and incident response in a small pragmatic team.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux systems engineering background with hands-on production responsibility.
• Practical experience with Nix and NixOS (or strong motivation to work with it daily).

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and improve bare-metal HIL test infrastructure.
• Deploy and run a Rust-based control plane for reserving and remotely interacting with devices.
• Actively develop and improve Rust services where needed, especially around reliability, observability, and automation.
• Manage NixOS-based systems end-to-end: provisioning, updates, rollbacks.
• Integrate and automate hardware control (USB/serial, USB-OTG, power control, HDMI capture, networked devices).
• Leverage existing tracing and metrics to improve monitoring, alerting, and system reliability.
