Zusammenfassung

Quantum Systems in Munich seeks a Hardware-in-the-Loop Test Engineer to design and maintain HIL benches for UAV platforms. You will integrate avionics hardware, sensors, and simulation models, and develop automated test suites for end-to-end verification.

You will work with Embedded Software, Systems Engineering, Electronics, Flight Test, and Certification teams to improve testing infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. 3+ years in HIL are preferred.

Qualifikationen

• Completed degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or comparable qualification.
• At least 3+ years of experience developing or operating HIL systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Experience with Robot Framework or other automated testing frameworks.
• Good understanding of embedded systems and real-time software.
• Experience with CAN, Ethernet, UART, SPI, or I²C protocols.
• Experience using GitHub and modern software development workflows.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Proactive, organized, and a team-player mindset.
• Ability to balance multiple assignments.

As part of our growing Test & Integration team, we are building the next generation of automated verification environments to ensure the quality and reliability of our software and UAV platforms.

As a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Test Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining HIL test benches for our UAV platforms. You will work closely with software, hardware, systems, and flight test engineers to enable efficient verification throughout the development lifecycle. Beyond HIL development, you will contribute to the automation of software and integration testing, helping us build robust Continuous Integration and Continuous Testing pipelines.

By ensuring efficient verification environments, you will support Quantum-Systems in its mission to become the leader for aerial data collection solutions with unmanned aerial systems (sUAV).

Day to Day Mission

• Design, develop, and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments for Quantum Systems UAVs.
• Integrate avionics hardware, sensors, actuators, communication interfaces, and simulation models into HIL benches.
• Develop automated test suites for system, software, and hardware/software integration testing.
• Implement and maintain automated test frameworks using Robot Framework and Python.
• Develop simulation components, hardware interfaces, and test scripts to enable realistic system verification.
• Integrate automated HIL testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Analyze test results, investigate failures, and support root‑cause analysis.
• Collaborate closely with Embedded Software, Systems Engineering, Electronics, Flight Test, and Certification teams.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of verification processes and testing infrastructure.
• Support the definition of test strategies and verification concepts for new UAV platforms.

What You Bring to the Team

• A completed degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a comparable qualification.
• At least 3+ years of experience developing or operating Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Experience with Robot Framework or other automated testing frameworks.
• Good understanding of embedded systems and real‑time software.
• Experience with communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, UART, SPI, or I²C.
• Experience using GitHub and modern software development workflows.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills.
• Experience with DO‑178C is advantageous.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Proactive, organized, and a team‑player mindset.
• Ability to balance multiple assignments.
