Head of Upstream Processes & GMP Operations (m/f/d)

At our largest Pharma API production site in Bergkamen, we look for a new colleague to join our dynamic team in Cluster Microbiology. Here we use biocatalysis to produce active ingredients and act as a service platform for late-stage development, piloting, and launch production - to serve patients and customers.
As the leader of the laboratory and GMP operations team, you will be part of the plant leadership team and play a crucial role in optimizing both new and established production processes with a focus on cost efficiency and quality. Your responsibilities will include aligning and collaborating with various internal functions to manage lab-scale transfers and scaling up new processes to pilot and production scale. You will also supervise an analytical shift laboratory and oversee environmental microbiological monitoring at the Bergkamen site, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards. Your role will involve developing and implementing documentation concepts using new digital tools to enhance GMP standards while actively driving change in accordance with the company's values and guiding your team according to defined behaviors.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
WHO YOU ARE
Master’s degree in biochemistry, microbiology, or biotechnology, ideally with a PhD
Extensive experience specifically within the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on the development, optimization, and industrialization of microbiological/biotechnological production processes
Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach in line with defined principles
Excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills to improve production processes and workflows
Strong team player, motivated, and able to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
Experience as Project Manager according to GenTG as well as responsible person according to IfSG
Business acumen
Fluent in English and German, both written and spoken
The position requires a on-site presence in Bergkamen.
