Head of Tax

A functional and disciplinary lead for the Tax Department of IONOS, responsible for compliance and strategic tax initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Tax Department (currently 5 employees) and coordinate tax compliance for VAT, corporate tax, withholding tax, and transfer pricing.
• Ensure compliance with all tax requirements and support Group Accounting, General Ledger, and Tax Accounting in financial statement preparation and audits.
• Participate in the annual audit process, addressing tax‑related questions.
• Provide guidance to IONOS Business IT on tax matters, setting standards from a tax perspective.
• Maintain and enhance the Tax Compliance Management System in cooperation with United Internet Tax Department.
• Continuously improve tax processes to support business needs and leverage technology.
• Develop a roadmap for integrating subsidiaries or newly acquired entities into standard tax processes.
• Support ERP system implementation and improvement from a tax standpoint.
• Define and evolve relevant Tax‑KPIs for the board.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, initiating dialogues with central stakeholders, overseeing decentralized interactions, and identifying new requirements.

Qualifications

• Academic background in finance and international tax.
• Proven experience leading tax teams in multi‑tiered groups.
• Experience leading a corporate tax department.
• Knowledge of IFRS and tax topics.
• Passed Tax Advisor Exam.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills (incl. C‑level).
• Experience with transformation programs and migration setups.
• Proficiency in English.
