GreenTech client in Berlin seeks a Head of Engineering, the second-in-command in the tech organisation, with a clear path to VP of Engineering. The remit is organisational: transform and scale a multi-team group, and build the layer of tech leads and managers beneath you.

You will guide product and business stakeholders through major change, drive the shift from packaged platforms to API-first software, and own architectural trade-offs while championing AI-augmented engineering.

Qualifikationen

• A proven leader who has managed managers and run multiple teams.
• Experience delivering organisational restructuring with measurable business value.
• Technically credible in system design without daily coding.
• Advocate for AI tooling to lift team output.
• Willing to be on-site in Berlin several days a week.

Role Overview:

You’ll join as Head of Engineering - the number two in the tech organisation, with a clear path to VP of Engineering. The remit is organisational: transform and scale a multi-team group, and build the layer of tech leads and managers beneath you.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and grow a multi-team engineering group.
• Build the missing leadership layer: coach engineers into tech leads, hire managers.
• Shape the org design of a fast-scaling domain - structure, spans, autonomy.
• Guide product and business stakeholders through major change.
• Drive the shift from packaged platforms to custom, API-first software.
• Own the key architectural trade-offs and champion AI-augmented engineering.

Qualifications:

• A proven leader who has managed managers and run more than one team at once.
• Experience delivering organisational restructuring with measurable business value.
• Technically credible in system design, without needing to code daily.
• A genuine advocate for AI tooling and using it to lift a team's output.
• Happy on-site in Berlin several days a week.
