TGS International Group is seeking a Group Lead to own the mechanical services discipline across mission-critical projects. The role leads a team of mechanical engineers and stays close to technical detail from concept through commissioning.

Based in Stuttgart or Bad Homburg in Germany, or Vienna in Austria, the position offers hybrid working and a comprehensive benefits package as part of a global engineering organisation working on world-class data centre projects.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Solid mechanical building services experience in industrial, data centre or mission-critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, heating, cooling, plumbing and sprinkler design.
• Good understanding of DIN, VDI, VDE and European standards.
• Experience delivering multidisciplinary projects from concept through commissioning.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Aufgaben

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical building services engineers; plan resources across projects.
• Provide technical leadership across HVAC, heating, cooling, plumbing, and sprinkler design.
• Review and approve engineering calculations, reports, and design docs.
• Lead design and coordination of mechanical services for data centres and industrial facilities.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, bills of quantities, and documentation.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Structural, Architectural, Process and BIM teams.
• Support tender activity, supplier evaluation, and technical reviews.
• Support installation, testing, commissioning and project close-out; attend site visits.
• Ensure compliance with German regulations (DIN, VDI, VDE) and European standards.
• Lead internal design reviews and technical audits; drive continuous improvement.

Data centres, semiconductor plants and pharmaceutical facilities all live or die on their mechanical services. This engineering and technology organisation is looking for a Group Lead to take technical and people ownership of that discipline - HVAC, heating, cooling, plumbing and sprinkler systems - across mission-critical projects.

About the opportunity

Sitting inside the Engineering and Design department, you will lead a team of mechanical building services engineers while staying close to the technical detail: approving calculations and specifications, resolving complex design issues, and steering solutions from concept through construction support and commissioning. It suits an established engineering leader, or a senior mechanical engineer ready to step into leading a team.

This role can be based in Stuttgart or Bad Homburg in Germany, or Vienna in Austria.

What you will be doing

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of mechanical building services engineers; plan resources across multiple projects
• Provide technical leadership across HVAC, heating, cooling, plumbing and sprinkler system design
• Review and approve engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications and design documentation
• Lead design and coordination of mechanical services for data centres and industrial facilities

What you will need

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, HVAC Engineering or similar
• Solid mechanical building services experience within industrial, mission-critical or data centre environments
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, heating, cooling, plumbing and sprinkler design
• Good understanding of German building regulations - DIN, VDI, VDE and European standards
• Experience delivering multidisciplinary projects from concept through commissioning
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management
• Proficiency with CAD, engineering planning tools and Microsoft Office
• Fluent German (minimum B2) and English
• Willingness to travel for project meetings and site visits

Nice to have

• Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams
• Background in engineering consultancy, EPC contracting or design organisations
• BIM and digital engineering workflows; Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks
• HVAC calculation software such as IES VE or HAP
• Chartered Engineer (CEng), Eur Ing or equivalent; VDI, CIBSE or ASHRAE membership
• Knowledge of sustainable building design and low-carbon HVAC technologies

Working pattern
