Siegfried is actively seeking a seasoned Global Automation Lead to define and govern the automation blueprint across our global CDMO network. You will harmonize automation standards, drive cross-site tech transfers, and collaborate with IT/OT and engineering teams to bridge software and manufacturing operations.

The role requires deep expertise in lifecycle management of plant-floor automation, regulatory compliance (CSV, GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11), and leadership of a global team of Site

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Chemical Engineering with a heavy software/control focus.
• 12–15 years of automation leadership experience within a regulated biopharmaceutical, vaccine, or high-complexity CDMO environment.
• Multi-Site automated systems experience across an international network, including DCS/MES deployment or migration programs.
• Deep Knowledge of CSV, GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, Data Integrity regulations.
• Strategic collaborative leadership and ability to communicate complex software architectures to non-technical stakeholders.

Your Role:

The Global Automation Lead is a highly strategic leadership role responsible for defining, executing, and governing the corporate automation blueprint across our global CDMO network. This role acts as the primary catalyst for the company’s automation strategy, transforming traditional manufacturing sites into highly integrated manufacturing facilities. A critical mandate of this position is managing the lifecycle and obsolescence planning of all plant-floor automation equipment. By holding a functional (dotted-line) reporting connection to all local Site Automation Heads, this leader will harmonize automation standards globally, streamline cross-site tech transfers for client products, and collaborate seamlessly with global IT/OT and physical engineering teams to bridge the gap between software and steel.

Your Profile:

Key Responsibilities

• Automation Roadmap: Design and drive the global automation roadmap, integrating advanced technologies such as electronic batch records (EBR), plug-and-produce modular systems (Module Type Package - MTP), AI-driven process optimization, and industrial IoT (IIoT).
• Cross-Site Tech Transfer Standardization: Create a standardized, recipe-driven automation architecture (ISA-88/ISA-95 standards) that allows swift, seamless transfer of client manufacturing processes from one site to another without rewriting code from scratch.
• Risk Mapping & Upgrade Planning: Audit and map the lifecycle state of all global process control systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA). Develop a long-term capital replacement roadmap to proactively upgrade obsolete hardware and software before it threatens business continuity.
• Capital Project Integration: Partner closely with the Head of Global Project Delivery and site project teams during the front-end design (FEL) phase of new expansions to ensure vendor selection and code architecture align perfectly with corporate global automation standards.
• The IT/OT Bridge: Collaborate closely with the Global IT organization to ensure seamless vertical integration—connecting plant-floor automation
• OT Cyber Security: Partner with OT teams to implement robust OT cyber security frameworks to protect manufacturing network and enhance our manufacturing network.
• Leadership: lead from a global perspective the network of local Site Automation Heads. Set unified performance standards, capability matrix, and global training paths for automation engineers.

Key Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Chemical Engineering with a heavy software/control focus.
• Industry Experience: 12–15 years of automation leadership experience within a regulated biopharmaceutical, vaccine, or high-complexity CDMO environment.
• Multi-Site automated systems experience: Proven track record of managing automated systems across an international network, including direct experience driving large-scale DCS/MES deployment or migration programs.
• Deep Knowledge of Life Sciences Data: Thorough understanding of computerized system validation (CSV), GAMP 5 principles, 21 CFR Part 11, and Data Integrity regulations.
• Strategic Collaborative Leadership: Highly developed ability to communicate complex software and digital architectures to non-technical operational and business stakeholders, transforming automation into a clear, value-generating business strategy.
