A German Aerospace Research Institute is seeking a skilled researcher in satellite gravimetry to enhance the determination of Earth's gravitational field. The role involves the development of software for gravity field recovery and applying machine learning methods. Candidates should hold a Master's degree in engineering or natural sciences and have expertise in satellite observations. The Institute promotes diversity and offers training opportunities, aiming to attract qualified applicants from all backgrounds.
The Institute of Satellite Geodesy and Inertial Sensing at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR e.V.) is dedicated to exploring and developing new ways of observing the Earth's gravitational field. New quantum-based sensors and laser interferometer systems are being transferred from basic research to practical applications, enabling a better observation of climate change and improving resource management. We are thus making a significant contribution to meeting the challenges of our time and helping to shape the future.
The "Satellite Geodesy and Geodetic Modelling" department develops application scenarios for gravity field determination and inertial navigation using quantum sensor technology. The portfolio ranges from the determination of mass transport on Earth as a result of climate change and geophysical processes to the gravity field determination on planets and moons in the solar system. The position is established to improve the determination of the Earth's gravitational field using satellite gravimetry data of the satellite mission GRACE-Follow On. This is applied and experimental research.
Remuneration is up to the German TVöD 13 depending on qualifications and assigned tasks.
DLR stands for diversity, appreciation and equality for all people. We promote independent work and the individual development of our employees both personally and professionally. To this end, we offer numerous training and development opportunities. Equal opportunities are of particular importance to us, which is why we want to increase the proportion of women in science and management in particular. Applicants with severe disabilities will be given preference if they are qualified.
We look forward to getting to know you!
