Aesir Interactive GmbH is seeking an experienced Controller to own financial controlling across active game projects in Munich. You will manage monthly/quarterly routines, develop templates, monitor budgets, and lead funding-related documentation for public and private programs.

You will work closely with project managers and senior leadership, ensuring accurate reporting, robust cashflow planning, and clear communication of risks and opportunities.

Qualifikationen

• 3–5 years of experience in controlling, finance, or accounting
• Solid understanding of budgeting, cost accounting, and cashflow planning
• Able to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize without close supervision
• Excellent Excel skills; able to build and audit templates and calculations
• Strong communication skills in German and English with non-finance stakeholders

About the company:

Aesir Interactive is an independent game development studio building ambitious titles for global audiences.
We are looking for an experienced and self-driven Controller to take ownership of our financial controlling processes with a particular focus on securing and controlling public and private funding across projects.

Your role:

You will independently manage controlling tasks across active projects, own financial reporting, and take the lead on funding controlling from tracking disbursements and eligible costs to preparing all controlling-side documentation for public and private funding programmes.
You work closely with project managers and senior management, and bring the structure and judgement to operate with a high degree of autonomy.

Main responsibilities

Recurring Controlling Tasks

• Perform monthly and quarterly controlling routines: data collection, plausibility checks, and report updates.
• Own and further develop financial templates and reporting frameworks; ensure they reflect current project and cost data at all times.
• Monitor actuals vs. budget across projects, analyze deviations, and proactively recommend corrective actions to project leadership and management.

Project Handover Preparation

• Lead the financial handover process at the transition from financial planning phase to active project start, and take responsibility for completeness and quality.
• Compile budget baselines, cost plans, funding overviews, and cashflow projections into clear, team-ready documents.
• Coordinate with project managers and leads to ensure all financial assumptions are correctly transferred and understood.
• Maintain handover templates and continuously improve documentation quality.

Funding Controlling

• Prepare and maintain all controlling-side documentation for public and private funding across projects: tracking approved amounts, disbursement schedules, and eligible costs.
• Reconcile estimated funding income against actual receipts and calculate correction cashflows.
• Maintain funding trackers and ensure all documentation meets reporting requirements of stakeholders.

Project Controlling

• Conduct ongoing project controlling for active development titles: tracking costs, milestones, and budget consumption.
• Prepare regular project status reports and variance analyses for the project leadership and management.
• Drive cost allocation and ensure expenses are correctly assigned to the right projects and cost centers.

Controlling & Finance

• 3–5 years of experience in controlling, finance, or accounting
• Solid understanding of financial concepts, including budgeting, cost accounting, and cashflow planning
• Able to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize without close supervision

Excel Skills

• Solid Excel skills (also without AI)
• Ability to work with existing templates, fill them correctly, and spot formula errors
• Comfortable building clean calculation structures from scratch
• Attention to data consistency

Language Skills

• German, as the role involves working with German-language financial documents, funding requirements, official communication, and internal stakeholders.
• Very good English skills are required.

• Able to follow and verify multi-step financial calculations independently
• Strong attention to detail: you notice when something does not add up and you investigate
• Structured way of working: your documents can be presented and understood by non-finance stakeholders
• Experienced in communicating financial results and risks clearly to non-finance stakeholders and management
