Job summary

METYCLE GmbH is hiring a seasoned full stack engineer to build modern, production-grade applications end to end. You will own frontend and backend features, mentor teammates, and raise engineering quality through strong practices and code health metrics.

You’ll design scalable systems, implement robust APIs, and contribute to a green, AI-assisted development workflow in a fast-growing, international team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years hands-on software engineering in production environments.
• Experience building production-grade frontend apps with modern frameworks and state management.
• Strong backend expertise in at least one ecosystem; solid API, DB, auth, and security knowledge.
• Familiarity with build tooling, CI/CD, deployment, and basic DevOps concepts.

Responsibilities

• Deliver production features end to end across frontend and backend from requirements to deployment.
• Maintain code quality, type safety, API design, performance and security standards.
• Make pragmatic architectural decisions for scale or simplicity.
• Define acceptance criteria and automated testing requirements for production readiness.
• Mentor teammates and share engineering patterns across the team.
• Identify and remove bottlenecks in the development workflow with tooling and automation.

YOUR MISSION

• Deliver production features end to end across frontend and backend, owning the full cycle from requirements through architecture, implementation, testing, review, and deployment
• Maintain high standards for code quality, type safety, API design, performance, and application security
• Make pragmatic architectural decisions based on real-world experience, knowing when to build for scale and when to keep things simple
• Design and maintain engineering standards across the stack, including code review guidelines, testing strategies, architectural patterns, and documentation practices
• Define clear acceptance criteria and automated testing requirements to ensure quality before code reaches production, building these practices iteratively through real delivery
• Actively mentor and pair with teammates to transfer knowledge and strong engineering patterns - treating this as a core responsibility, not a nice-to-have
• Identify bottlenecks in the development workflow and remove them through better tooling, automation, and lightweight processes (e.g. pre-commit hooks, PR checks, and code health metrics embedded in the workflow)

YOUR PROFILE

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience in production environments, with a track record of delivering complex full stack applications end to end
• Proven experience building production-grade frontend applications with modern frameworks (e.g. React, Vue, Angular), including state management, testing, and performance optimization
• Strong backend expertise in at least one established ecosystem (e.g. TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Go, Java/Kotlin), plus solid understanding of API design (REST/GraphQL), databases, authentication/authorization, and application security
• Experience with modern build tooling, CI/CD pipelines, deployment practices, and core infrastructure/DevOps concepts - you understand how your applications run in production and contribute to operational excellence
• Strong opinions and practical experience in maintaining code quality, type safety, and architectural integrity as applications and teams scale, including the use of documentation, playbooks, and internal tooling that others actually rely on
• Comfortable collaborating and presenting to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, energized by making the whole team more productive through mentoring, pairing, and improving engineering practices
• Genuine curiosity about and openness to AI-assisted development tools and workflows (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) - you see AI as a way to amplify strong engineering, not replace it
