Zalando is seeking a Software Engineer in Payments Risk Management to advance fraud detection tooling and risk platforms. You will own frontend services spanning AI inputs, order annotation for fraud signals, and late order cancellations, delivering secure, compliant solutions while aligning with business risk strategies.

You will build accessible, internationalized React experiences with TypeScript, MUI, and modern tooling, collaborate with product managers, and continuously improve code health

Qualifikationen

• 3+ years experience in designing frontend systems using React, Typescript, NodeJS, and writing well-structured, observable, and maintainable code covered by automated tests that are rolled out to production in small and safe iterations.
• Experience with building accessible, internationalized React frontends with form-heavy UIs and strong validation workflows.
• Strong collaboration with product managers and engineering peers to clarify requirements and solve complex technical challenges.

Our team in the Zalando Payments Risk Management department is dedicated to building sophisticated fraud detection and prevention tooling that optimize workflows for our customers, while feeding high-quality data back to our machine learning models.

In this role, you will take ownership of building and operating user-facing services that span from incorporating AI-based inputs, annotating orders for signs of fraudulent behavior to managing late order cancellations.

By successfully reducing financial losses and supporting broader risk assessment strategies, you will see a direct link between your daily work and the financial health of the entire company.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

You’ll product engineer across modern frontends, and deliver accessible, internationalized, form-heavy React experiences using TypeScript, MUI, React Hook Form/Zod, and Vite

You’ll turn user and customer feedback into usable workflows with clear validation, resilient error states, and discoverable data interactions.

You’ll work with various stakeholders to understand business context, and support the implementation of a solution and measure it against success criteria (e.g. customer feedback)

You’ll deliver secure, compliant solutions by designing and implementing orchestration processes and workflows, ensuring all solutions strictly adhere to non-functional requirements and regulatory constraints like GDPR or DORA

You’ll act as a proactive team player by spearheading documentation and knowledge sharing, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and providing best of class usability and extensibility.

You’ll take ownership of the full software lifecycle, utilizing AI and automation to streamline workflows and improve code health, while identifying opportunities to integrate with broader internal systems and front-ends.

You have 3+ years experience in designing frontend systems using React, Typescript, NodeJS, and connecting writing well-structured, observable, and maintainable code covered by automated tests that are rolled out to production in small and safe iterations.

You communicate clearly with product managers and engineering peers to clarify requirements, proactively resolving ambiguity and solving complex technical challenges.

You demonstrate a customer-centric approach and pragmatism, taking ownership of your solutions to ensure they deliver tangible business value.

You possess a proactive, self-driven mindset, exhibiting passion for continuous learning and identifying opportunities to improve existing workflows.

You support your team’s growth by providing constructive feedback in code reviews and actively sharing knowledge to foster technical excellence.

NICE TO HAVE

Experience with Vite, Zod, or complex state management libraries, as well as integration with restful APIs and event-driven systems.

A background in highly regulated environments like fintech or risk-management software.

A track record of spearheading documentation initiatives within your engineering team.
