We're partnering with a well-established, European mobility business that's building out a new digital commerce proposition in one of the fastest-evolving corners of the circular economy.
Backed by a major European group, the business is creating a more sophisticated way to bring refurbished products back to market, connecting consumers, commercial partners and existing leasing infrastructure through a growing digital ecosystem.
The foundations are already in place, with Shopify powering both B2C and B2B storefronts, supported by a proprietary ERP and product information management platform.
Now comes the interesting part.
As the business scales into new markets, introduces more complex purchasing and leasing journeys, and expands its commercial offering, the technical requirements are becoming considerably more interesting than those of a conventional online shop.
We're looking for an experienced Freelance Shopify Developer who can take ownership of meaningful development work, strengthen the integrations between systems and bring a broader engineering perspective to how the platform evolves.
This isn't a role focused on managing products, configuring themes or running an online shop. We're looking for someone who understands what sits underneath Shopify, how to extend it intelligently, and when a more bespoke approach might make sense.
We're particularly interested in developers who combine deep Shopify expertise with a broader understanding of software engineering and digital commerce architecture.
Ideally, you'll bring:
we're looking for someone who can contribute to the conversation, not simply execute tickets.
Someone who understands the trade-offs between building and buying, recognises when complexity is becoming unnecessary, and can help a growing business make sensible technical decisions without overengineering the solution.
There's an interesting combination here: the commercial backing and reach of an established European business, alongside the opportunity to help shape a relatively young digital product.
You’ll be joining at a point where the team is thinking carefully about the next stage of its technical evolution, with genuine scope to influence how the platform develops.
The engagement is remote-friendly, with stakeholders based across Europe and occasional opportunities to meet in person.
We're open to different levels of availability and engagement structures for the right person.
We're keen to speak with experienced freelance Shopify engineers who have worked on technically complex commerce environments and enjoy getting involved in the thinking behind what they're building.
