WayOps is seeking a highly skilled Expert IT Linux Administrator to join the IT Infrastructure Linux Team for a critical NATO project. This is a rare, high-level opportunity requiring hands‑on expertise in Linux systems administration, security, and database environments.

CONTEXT & RESPONSIBILITIES

The selected candidate will become part of a specialized team responsible for the implementation, operation, and maintenance of Linux-based IT infrastructure supporting NATO operations. The role requires a combination of deep technical knowledge, proactive problem-solving, and strict adherence to security standards.

Key responsibilities include :

• Implementation, configuration, operation, and support of Linux hardware and software.
• Administration and configuration of security settings; maintenance of activity and security records for Linux systems.
• Backup and restore management to ensure data integrity, availability, and disaster recovery across platforms.
• File transfer automation and scripting using Bash.
• Database administration in relational DB environments (Oracle and MS SQL).
• Experience with Microsoft Windows server platforms is an advantage.
• Documentation of systems, procedures, and operations.

PROJECT & TEAM

The position is onsite in the Munich area, working directly within the IT Infrastructure Linux Team supporting NATO operations. The candidate will collaborate closely with IT engineers, security specialists, and infrastructure teams to maintain and optimize Linux-based systems critical for mission success.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

• Proven track record as a Linux Administrator in complex IT environments.
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems configuration, security, and administration.
• Experience in backup / restore and disaster recovery procedures.
• Proficiency in Bash scripting and database administration (Oracle and MS SQL).
• Familiarity with MS Windows server platforms is a plus.
• Fluent in English.
• Citizenship of one of the following countries: Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Italy.

CONTRACT & REMUNERATION

This is a full-time freelance position onsite in the Munich area. The contract is offered as an all-inclusive rate, covering hourly work, travel, accommodation, and related expenses.
