Zusammenfassung

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) seeks an Environmental Scientist for NCCOS in Silver Spring, MD, Beaufort, NC, or Charleston, SC. You will develop, maintain, and disseminate standardized procedures across programs and support project coordination and reporting.

You will analyze biological data, review test results, prepare reports, and contribute to outreach through publications, presentations, and websites to inform coastal management and scientific research.

Summary

This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS), National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS), with one vacancy in Silver Spring, MD; Beaufort, NC; or Charleston, SC.

Major Duties

As an Environmental Scientist, you will perform the following duties: Develop, maintain, and distribute standardized procedures for assigned programs and the projects that support them. Procedures that cover areas such as collection methods and types, reporting procedures and communication methods, quality assurance/quality control review of statistical data, preparation and processing of records, notification and reporting to regulatory agencies, coordination of corrective actions if necessary, and information to document review and release. Identify and validate significant problem areas requiring action while prioritizing assigned projects, including project documentation, execution reporting, project tracking, project accounting, technical support procurement, Program Manager Project coordination, and other related activities. Conduct planning, prioritization, and participation in and track scientific projects. Develop information communicating projects and their progress and provide instruction to customers and fellow staff. Examine biological data necessary to contribute to project objectives and responsibilities. Review test results and reports to determine whether results are valid, and can be integrated into established processes and procedures, or developed into new processes or procedures. Develop information into reports and compare reports from internal and external partners and stakeholders to determine validity of findings. Report on misinformation in data. Support various communication and outreach efforts including development of written reports/publications, oral presentations, news releases and websites to promote use of related marine-science products in coastal management decision-making, scientific research, and outreach.
