Job summary

Isar Aerospace SE seeks an Environmental Management Specialist to build our environmental program from the ground up. You will develop the Environmental Management System, ensure compliance, and coordinate permits across production sites.

Collaborating with Infrastructure, Legal, Engineering, and Procurement, you will embed environmental requirements into daily operations within a highly regulated aerospace environment. Fluent English and German are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering or a comparable field.
• Several years of professional experience in environmental management or environmental compliance, ideally in manufacturing or technical environments.
• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and operational environmental requirements.
• Experience with Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 and/or EMAS).
• Experience with environmental permitting, compliance assessments, audits or regulatory interactions.
• Ability to establish processes and structures independently.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Fluent in English and German.
• Experience in aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, chemicals or other regulated industries is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve our Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Identify, assess, and manage applicable environmental legal/regulatory requirements and maintain a compliance register.
• Coordinate environmental permits, notifications, and regulatory obligations with authorities.
• Manage environmental topics related to waste, water, emissions, hazardous substances, and resource use.
• Identify environmental risks, opportunities, and implement mitigation and monitoring measures.
• Plan and perform environmental audits, inspections, and corrective actions; develop KPIs.

Mission Brief

As Environmental Management Specialist, you will play a key role in building our environmental management framework from the ground up. Your mission is to establish robust processes for environmental compliance and operational environmental management that can scale with our company, sites, and production activities. You will take ownership of core environmental management topics and help transform individual requirements into a structured and systematic Environmental Management System.

Your Role in Our Space Mission:

• Environmental Management System: Develop, implement, and continuously improve our Environmental Management System, including processes, responsibilities, documentation, objectives, and controls.


• Environmental Compliance: Identify, assess, and manage applicable environmental legal and regulatory requirements. Establish and maintain a structured environmental legal register and compliance evaluation process.


• Permits & Regulatory Requirements: Coordinate environmental permits, notifications, and regulatory obligations and support communication with relevant authorities.


• Operations: Manage environmental topics related to waste, water, emissions, hazardous substances, resource consumption, and other environmental aspects.


• Environmental Risk Management: Identify and assess environmental aspects, impacts, risks, and opportunities and establish appropriate mitigation and monitoring measures.


• Audits & Performance: Plan and perform environmental audits, inspections, compliance assessments, and corrective actions. Develop environmental KPIs and support continuous performance improvement.


• Global Environmental Framework: Support the establishment of consistent environmental standards and processes across different company locations and future sites.


• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Infrastructure, Production Execution, Legal, Engineering, Procurement and other departments to integrate environmental requirements into daily operations.

Qualification Checklist

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering or a comparable field.


• Several years of professional experience in environmental management or environmental compliance, ideally within a manufacturing or technical environment.


• Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and operational environmental requirements.


• Practical experience with Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001 and/ or EMAS).


• Experience with environmental permitting, compliance assessments, audits or regulatory interactions.


• Ability to independently establish processes and structures.


• Strong analytical and organizational skills.


• Confident communication style and ability to work effectively with different stakeholders.


• Solution-oriented mindset with a strong focus on ensuring environmental compliance.


• Fluent in English and German.


• Experience in aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, chemicals, or another highly regulated technical industry is a plus.
