Job summary

Distribusion, the leading ground transportation marketplace, seeks an Engineering Team Leader to manage and grow the eCommerce engineering group. You will steward technical delivery, guide architecture, and drive performance across a rapidly expanding team of 50+ engineers.

You will lead from Berlin-based HQ with a remote-first approach, collaborating with global carriers, operators, and retailers. English fluency required; strong cloud and distributed systems expertise is essential.

Qualifications

• Seasoned people leader with experience steering frontend or full‑stack teams in scaleups or high‑growth tech orgs.
• Strong code review and guidance in ReactJS and Python; able to shape system design and coding practices.
• Deep knowledge of microservice architectures, event‑driven and distributed systems; hands‑on capable.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, including customer‑facing interactions and performance coaching.

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and develop engineering teams (hiring, mentoring, engagement).
• Own architectural design within the domain and ensure delivery excellence.
• Improve quality and stability of services; plan resources quarterly to match roadmap.
• Oversee incident management and operational excellence in delivery, speed, and communication.

The opportunity

We are looking for an Engineering Team Leader. We deliver projects and features that our Product and Business teams expect to scale business activity with our Carriers and Retailers. By joining us in this role, you will be responsible for managing and leading the team across all people-related matters and engineering delivery and efficiency. You will be part of the Distribusion leadership team and report to our Senior Engineering Manager, eCommerce.

Our eCommerce division has grown rapidly, now exceeding 50 engineers. To support our scaling goals, we’re looking for a leader who can combine strong technical expertise with people management skills, helping teams perform at their best while maintaining operational excellence.

What you will do:

• Manage, lead, and grow Engineering teams (people development, people engagement, hiring, etc.)

• Take responsibility for the architectural design within the domain

• Increase the quality and stability of our services

• Plan resources of the team according to the roadmap quarterly

• Ensure operational excellence in delivery quality, speed, and communication.

• Be responsible for Incident management

Workplace:

We are a remote-first company with teams located around the Globe.

Also, the HQ office is in Berlin, where the team often meets.

Who you are:

• You are an experienced people leader who has managed front-end or fullstack teams, ideally in scaleups or high-growth, high-quality organizations of similar size.

• You understand and review code in ReactJS and Python, and have experience with cloud technologies.

• You are a well-rounded engineer, able to address technical issues hands-on, and can guide strong system design and coding practices.

• You bring deep knowledge of microservice architecture, event-driven approaches, and distributed systems tailored for asynchronous communication.

• You demonstrate coaching, performance management, and senior stakeholder engagement, including customer-facing experience.

• You drive projects, inspire teams, and actively develop the technical brand internally and externally.

• You show ownership, responsibility, and a growth mindset that constantly challenges and guides teams to new standards.

• You communicate fluently in English, both verbal and written.
