What You’ll Be Doing
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Employee Relations & HR Manager to join our expanding JD.COM team based in Germany. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor to operational leaders and frontline managers, ensuring HR initiatives align seamlessly with business goals while maintaining full compliance with employment law. You will help shape a performance-driven, engaged workplace culture while managing complex ER cases and organizational changes across our warehousing, transportation, and supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- ER Case Management: Oversee end-to-end employee relations work, managing cases related to performance management, misconduct, attendance anomalies, employee grievances, and disciplinary actions, while balancing regulatory compliance with practical business needs.
- Managerial Coaching: Provide guidance to managers at all levels on HR practices, local labor laws, and internal JD.COM policies to ensure consistent, fair, and standardized people management across all business teams.
- Policy & Documentation: Draft, review, and implement HR policies, employment contracts, and various documents, ensuring alignment with German labor laws and JD.COM global standards.
- Transfer & Integration: Lead and manage the entire process of employee transfer and settlement during business transfers (e.g., § 613a BGB / Betriebsübergang), including due diligence, employee communication, works council collaboration, and post-transfer integration, ensuring legal compliance and smooth transitions during corporate M&As or outsourcing.
- Organizational Change: Support organizational restructuring, optimization, collective consultations (with works councils), and other change management initiatives, focusing on empathetic communication methods to mitigate potential risks.
- Culture Embedding: Collaborate with the German and European regional HR team and business stakeholders to promote and embed JD.COM’s corporate culture, core values, and operational standards within the local workforce.
- Insights & Engagement: Gather and analyze relevant HR data to enhance employee belonging, drive continuous optimization of team workflows, and foster a performance-driven workplace culture.
- Legal Collaboration: Partner with external legal counsel when necessary to collaboratively handle complex employee relations and transfer settlement matters.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in Human Resources, Labor Law, Business Administration, or related disciplines; a Master’s degree or professional HR certifications is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Employee Relations or HR Management within a fast-paced, international environment in Germany; background in logistics, supply chain, or the tech industry is highly preferred.
- Transfer Expertise: Proven hands-on experience in managing the full lifecycle of employee transfers/settlements within Germany/Europe, including due diligence, consultation, and post-merger integration.
- Legal Knowledge: Thorough understanding of German labor laws (including works council interaction / Betriebsverfassungsgesetz), HR best practices, and standard ER procedures, with the ability to independently resolve grievances, disciplinary issues, performance improvements, and attendance management.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to independently drive HR projects while balancing compliance guidelines with business growth targets.
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent multi-party collaboration skills with the ability to interface with stakeholders at all levels and build relationships based on mutual trust.
- Communication Style: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with empathy and cross-cultural awareness. Fluent in German and English.
- Operational Resilience: Comfortable working within a high-intensity, frontline operational environment and engaging directly with frontline/blue-collar employee teams.
- Agility: Ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-changing, and expanding environment, effectively managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
