Position Summary

Role Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Prior experience preferred but not required

Licenses/Certificate

• Current Missouri EMT License preferred but not required
• Current BCLS certification

Position Responsibilities

• Provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the pediatric, adult or elderly patient’s and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights.
• Assist with patient care to the sick or injured within the ED under the guidance of the RN, and physician.
• Document procedures, vital signs, patient triage and all other patient care provided
• Assist with cleaning and preparing rooms for patient use, including and not limited to cleaning up biohazards, linens, instruments, equipment, and room readiness for next patient.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, including monitoring adequate supply and restocking of necessary supplies
• Maintain thorough knowledge of equipment, its function and use and report any malfunction or damage to equipment promptly in accordance with hospital policy.
• Complete all required training/competencies in required emergency skills
• As an EDT with documented competency testing, will assist and perform such skills as, IV insertion, specimen collection, and respiratory treatments all with the guidance of RN, and ED Physician’s orders
• Keep patients and their families informed about patient status and/or any delays in treatment and that this information is documented on the patient record, including patients in the waiting area
• Maintain all required certifications.
• Provide courtesy to all within the Hospital patients, staff, and guests.
• Maintain a positive, professional, and cooperative working relationship with physicians, nurses, public safety agencies, the public, allied health professionals, and EMS providers
• Perform accurate registration, complete patient details, organize records/discharge instructions/transfer papers
• Fax/transmit/request patient records when needed
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills And Experience

• Basic computer literacy.
• Must be able to effectively communicate clearly with appropriate tone with all patients, staff, and the community either in person, via phone or radio.
