Embedded Software Engineer – Defence – Contract – Hybrid (50% on-site in Munich)

We’re looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to support the development of high-performance embedded software for advanced defence and flight systems.

This is a hands-on contract role focused on software operating close to the hardware across Embedded Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal platforms. You’ll work closely with electronics, avionics, and systems engineers across development, hardware integration, debugging, and testing of flight-critical systems.

Skills & Experience

• Strong Embedded C and/or C++ development experience
• Experience with Embedded Linux, RTOS, and/or bare-metal platforms
• Low-level software development including drivers, hardware interfaces, and middleware
• Strong understanding of real-time systems, determinism, and performance constraints
• Hardware/software integration, board bring-up, and debugging experience
• Experience working closely with electronics, avionics, or systems engineering teams
• Background within aerospace, defence, or similarly demanding embedded environments
• Safety-critical or flight-critical software experience
• MATLAB / Simulink and model-based development
• FPGA integration or exposure to VHDL workflows
• Sensors, actuators, or avionics interfaces
• Experience developing software for high-performance flight systems
• Previous experience within fast-paced R&D or advanced technology environments
