KEWAZO is a high-tech startup revolutionising construction and maintenance through robotics and AI. We design and deploy cutting‑edge lifting robots for construction sites and industrial plants. This position is based at our European headquarters in Munich, Germany, where our engineering team sits.
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our R&D team. You will own the electrical and control system of our lifting robots end to end: architecture and component selection, harnesses and wiring, PLC and drive commissioning, safety validation, and handover to production. You report directly to the CTO and work daily with mechanical, embedded and software engineers.
This is a hands‑on role in a small team. You will spend time at a desk designing, time in the lab soldering, and time in the workshop with a crimping tool in front of a machine that does not work yet. The machines you build go to live construction sites and refineries.
Your Responsibilities
- Electrical System Design
- Design and develop the electrical architecture of our robots: battery‑powered low‑voltage systems including fusing, precharge, DC/DC conversion and EMC‑aware design
- Select, specify and integrate components: encoders, inductive sensors, force and pressure sensors, safety devices, motors and drives
- Design wiring harnesses and custom cable assemblies: connector selection, crimping specifications, documentation and handover to manufacturing
- Maintain and evolve our existing PCB designs in Altium at revision level: modify schematics and layout, swap components, adjust routing, release new revisions
- Program and configure standard and safety PLCs on real machines
- Commission servo drives and tune motion behaviour
- Build up prototypes with your own hands: soldering, crimping, wiring, first power‑up
- Debug across the full system in a structured, data‑driven way, using bus traces, logs, live component data and software flow
- Safety, Compliance & Production
- Develop and validate safety concepts per ISO 13849, including PL assessment
- Contribute to CE and UL conformity under the EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230
- Document the electrical system properly and help take prototypes into low‑volume series production
Your Profile
- B.Sc./M.Sc. - in electrical engineering, mechatronics or a comparable qualification
- 4–8 years of experience - including prototyping and advanced development
- Strong hands‑on track record - we work at the lab and workshop constantly!
- Willingness to travel occasionally - our robots are deployed at industrial sites, and we often test prototypes directly on assets
- Altium experience - literacy at revision level (expert is a plus)
- Strong troubleshooting skills - structured, data‑driven approach to debugging
- Fluent in English - spoken and written
- Industrial experience is a plus - understanding how construction sites operate is beneficial
- German language is a plus - we work with many local suppliers
What We Offer
- Direct impact - your work is directly reflected in our product portfolio
- Fair compensation - based on qualifications and experience
- Career growth - opportunities to develop your skills in a fast‑growing startup
- International exposure - work with a diverse, global team and gain experience with building products for a varied range of markets
- Collaborative culture - flat hierarchies, strong team spirit, and a supportive work environment
We look forward to hearing from you!
