About the role

Our AI department is looking for an Electrical Prototyping Engineer (m/w/d) Robotics to support the construction, wiring, testing and documentation of our robotic cells, prototypes and test setups. This hands-on role would suit someone who enjoys clean panel wiring, soldering and PCB-related work, as well as collaborating closely with the mechanical and software teams.

Your Responsibilities
  • Panel Wiring: Build and wire control cabinets and junction boxes based on provided schematics.
  • Cable & Sensors: Route, connect and label cables for robots, sensors, cameras, drives and safety devices to ensure clean and reliable wiring.
  • Soldering & Connectors: Assemble and solder cables, connectors and electronic components with clean workmanship.
  • PCB & Cables: Support PCB-related activities including inspection, minor layout adjustments, preparation of manufacturing data and cable or connector fabrication.
  • Testing & Commissioning: Perform continuity, polarity and I/O checks, document results and support bring-up activities for robotic systems.
  • Rig & Workshop: Build and maintain demo rigs, proof-of-concept setups, tools, stock and workshop areas to support ongoing experiments.
  • Technical Background: A university background in electrical engineering, mechatronics or robotics or vocational training in electronics/mechatronics, giving you a solid foundation in electrical systems and hardware integration.
  • Wiring Experience: First practical experience with wiring tasks in laboratory, prototyping or automation environments, including routing cables, assembling components and working inside small electrical setups.
  • Schematic Reading: Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams and wiring plans; familiarity with EPLAN or similar tools is an advantage.
  • Clean Workmanship: Confident soldering skills and safe handling of PCBs, connectors, cables and small assemblies, with attention to reliability and structure.
  • Systems Understanding: Basic understanding of how electrical, electronic and mechanical components interact in integrated robotics or mechatronic systems.
  • Hands-on Mindset: Comfortable working in a workshop or lab environment, solving practical issues and supporting fast prototyping work with a proactive approach.
