Job summary

Broadgate's client, a high-growth global venture capital firm, seeks a Director of Finance and Tax to own German tax strategy, fund administration, and financial oversight across German entities, in support of its European expansion. Responsibilities include managing German tax compliance, coordinating with advisers and auditors, and directing fund administration for German vehicles and LP reporting.

The role requires Steuerberater or equivalent and 5+ years in German tax within VC/PE or asset

Qualifications

• 5+ years of German tax experience in VC/PE, asset management, or advisory.
• Steuerberater or equivalent German tax compliance experience.
• Experience in regulated financial institutions and private clients.
• Experience in Deal Tax and Corporate tax.

Director of Finance and Tax

Broadgate's client is a high-growth, top-tier global venture capital firm backing category-defining technology businesses across major international hubs. In an exciting, newly created role to support the firm’s rapid European expansion, they are seeking a Director of Finance and Tax to take full ownership of tax strategy, fund administration, and financial oversight across all German entities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee comprehensive German tax compliance and regulatory filings across all domestic management entities and operating vehicles.
• Lead relationships with external tax advisers and auditors, ensuring timely, accurate submission of corporate tax returns and statutory accounts.
• Direct end-to-end fund administration across German fund vehicles, including fund accounting, capital call execution, investor distributions, and portfolio valuations.
• Manage LP communications and investor reporting, acting as the primary point of contact for tax queries, reporting requests, and fund operations.
• Organize and prepare materials for advisory board meetings and LPAC sessions.
• Administer carried interest schemes, tracking allocations and processing carry distributions in accordance with fund documentation.
• Provide guidance on cross-border employment tax considerations for local personnel operating within global organizational frameworks.

Essential Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in German tax within VC/PE, asset management, or top-tier professional advisory.
• Formal tax qualification (Steuerberater) or equivalent experience owning German tax compliance for regulated financial structures.
• Proven experience in a regulated financial institution, ideally working with private clients
• Experience in Deal Tax and Corporate tax
