We are supporting a Private Equity-backed group in Munich with the appointment of a Head of Group Accounting.
This is a key finance leadership position, working closely with the CFO and taking ownership of the Group Accounting and Consolidation function. The successful candidate will play an important role in strengthening the finance organisation as the business continues to grow, execute M&A and prepare for a future exit.
The role combines technical accounting leadership with transformation, transaction support and the continued professionalisation of the Group's finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Group Accounting & Consolidation
- Take ownership of Group Accounting and Consolidation
- Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting
- Maintain and develop group-wide accounting policies and standards
- Ensure compliance with IFRS requirements
- Coordinate accounting activities across multiple entities
M&A & Integration
- Support the CFO and wider leadership team on M&A activity
- Provide accounting support throughout transaction processes
- Support the financial integration of newly acquired businesses
- Manage relevant purchase accounting and consolidation topics
- Ensure acquired entities are effectively integrated into Group reporting and accounting processes
Exit Readiness
- Play a key role in preparing the finance function for a future exit
- Ensure accounting, reporting, documentation and controls meet the requirements of investors and potential transaction processes
- Support financial due diligence and other exit-related workstreams
- Work closely with the CFO, shareholders and external advisors throughout the preparation process
Finance Transformation & Process Improvement
- Continue to professionalise and develop Group Accounting processes
- Improve the quality, efficiency and consistency of financial reporting
- Strengthen internal controls and accounting governance
- Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting and consolidation processes
- Support wider finance transformation initiatives
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and develop the Group Accounting function
- Act as a key sparring partner to the CFO on technical accounting and reporting topics
- Work closely with Controlling and the wider finance organisation
- Manage relationships with external auditors and advisors
- Engage effectively with senior management, shareholders and other key stakeholders
Candidate Profile
We are looking for an experienced accounting leader with a strong technical foundation who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, Private Equity-backed environment.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Significant experience within Group Accounting, Consolidation or Financial Reporting
- Strong knowledge of IFRS
- Experience working within a complex, international and/or multi-entity organisation
- Strong understanding of consolidation processes and group reporting
- Previous exposure to M&A and post-merger integration
- Experience supporting an exit, transaction or exit-readiness programme would be highly advantageous
- Previous experience within a Private Equity-backed business would be advantageous
- Strong leadership and stakeholder-management capabilities
- A hands-on approach combined with the ability to operate at a strategic level
