We are building on more than 180 years of experience in the fashion industry and continuously modernize the company to become an omnichannel fashion retailer.

At C&A we are driven by our values and we believe that affordable and high-quality fashion is not contradictory to caring for people & the planet, we are always forward thinking and acting to develop our business and innovate the industry. This is your chance to join the C&A team as Director - Data & Analytics! Internally the title is Domain Lead - Data & Analytics. C&A is in the middle of a data revolution. We’re moving from reporting-reliant to truly data-enabled—powering decisions, products, and customer experiences at scale. As a Domain Lead - Data & Analytics, you’ll define the vision, lead the people, and own the platform that makes this possible.

Your responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive vision and roadmap for Data Engineering that aligns with C&A’s business priorities. Deliver impactful near‑and medium‑term data products while building toward a year‑plus strategic horizon. Drive innovation and best practices in data architecture and management.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high‑performing team of data engineers and managers. Foster a culture of excellence, inclusion, continuous learning, and a reputation for reliably helping the business win.
  • Establish strong relationships with product, data governance, data science, analytics, and engineering leaders. Translate business goals into scalable data solutions and deliver outcomes against C&A’s highest priorities.
  • Coach individual contributors and leaders with thoughtful observation and courageous, honest feedback. Create clear career paths, skill matrices, and succession plans.
  • Anticipate, communicate, and navigate business and technical risks. Orchestrate alignment across domains; drive change management that sticks.
  • Lead our evolution from centralized, report‑driven work to domain‑driven, product‑oriented data delivery. Establish modern practices (e.g., data contracts, SLOs, CI/CD for data, observability) that enable self‑service and trusted insight.
  • Own the stability, efficiency, and evolution of core data platforms and pipelines, including Snowflake, MicroStrategy, Ab Initio, and Data Vault—and adjacent ecosystems (e.g., Databricks, Spark, Kafka, cloud services). Improve reliability, performance, cost, and scalability with clear SLIs/SLOs and incident/postmortem rigor.
  • Own budget planning and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) management for data products and states, ensuring efficient resource allocation and financial accountability.
How You’ll Measure Success (First 6–12 Months):
  • A clear data engineering strategy with measurable OKRs adopted across domains.
  • Improved platform reliability and efficiency (e.g., defined SLIs/SLOs, reduced incident frequency/MTTR, meaningful cost optimizations).
  • Tangible progress on domain‑driven data products (e.g., data contracts, self‑service capabilities, trust/quality metrics).
  • Strong engagement scores and visible growth of engineers and managers.
What you bring
  • Track record leading Data Engineering at department scale, shipping large‑scale, high‑volume, low‑latency data architectures in production.
  • Deep hands‑on understanding of platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, Kafka, and a major cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP). Comfortable evolving legacy or simplifying enterprise stacks (e.g., MicroStrategy, Ab Initio, Data Vault) toward modern patterns.
  • Passion for the customer and for delivering data that tangibly influences product direction and customer experiences.
  • Ability to drive cultural change, influence senior stakeholders, and foster cross‑functional collaboration. Experience transitioning from centralized reporting teams to domain‑driven, product‑oriented models.
  • Passion for building inclusive, empowered, growth‑oriented teams. Skilled at mentoring, feedback, and developing managers.
  • Visionary yet grounded; able to connect business realities to technical strategy and deliver iteratively.
  • Exceptional communicator with strong analytical instincts; credible with senior leadership and comfortable simplifying complex trade‑offs.
