Jobbeschreibung

Senior Electrical Engineer (m/f/d)
About Us

At betatron bio° we support our clients in developing sophisticated instruments and systems for the life science and diagnostics industries.

Our focus is on microfluidics, systems engineering, and AI - three disciplines we bring together into thoughtfully engineered and integrated systems, taking complex ideas from early concept through prototyping, validation, and pilot production.

To strategically expand our product and systems development in Münster, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer (m/f/d) who will take ownership of the hardware and PCB design for complex measurement and control systems and see projects through from circuit design to final commissioning.

You will work in a highly specialized team with direct customer contact, international project assignments, and a short path from idea to implementation.

  • Design and develop PCB layouts for analytical instruments, medical-technology and diagnostic systems (analog, digital, mixed-signal) - from concept through to production-ready design
  • Hardware design including component selection, schematic capture, and design for manufacturability (DFM/DFT)
  • Develop and integrate firmware (embedded C/C++) for microcontroller-based measurement and control systems
  • Systematically test, debug, and commission electronic assemblies directly in the lab - hands-on and solution-oriented
  • System integration in close coordination with mechanical engineers, software developers, and customers
  • Technical documentation in line with regulatory requirements (IEC 60601, ISO 13485)
  • Help shape and continuously improve our development processes in a growing deep-tech startup
Must-haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or related technical field
  • At least 5+ years of professional experience in PCB design and hardware development - ideally in medtech, diagnostics, or industrial automation
  • Hands-on firmware development: embedded C/C++, microcontroller programming, interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, USB)
  • Hands-on experience with test instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers including structured test execution, documentation, and reporting.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive independent work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and in German.
Nice-to-haves
  • Experience with microfluidic systems, lab-on-chip, or MEMS
  • Knowledge of EMC-compliant design and signal integrity analysis
  • Experience with ISO 13485 / IEC 60601 or comparable regulatory frameworks
  • Knowledge of Python or MATLAB for data analysis and test automation

Real impact: You'll help shape our product architecture directly - your designs go into market-relevant life science devices and directly influence our customers' strategies.

Variety, not routine: Projects spanning multiple customers, applications (diagnostics, single-cell analysis, sequencing, lab automation), and development phases - no two days alike.

Top-tier team: Work alongside internationally experienced founders, AI engineers, and systems engineers.

Growth & responsibility: A clear development path in a fast-growing company - help shape our processes, methods, and team.

Flexibility & culture: Flexible working hours, short decision-making paths, and a collaborative culture (innovation, excellence, collaboration)

Attractive package: Competitive compensation and a modern workplace in the heart of Münster.
