  • Full Time

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Senior Data Scientist. This is a hybrid role, looking for candidates ideally based in Bucharest. If you are passionate about Energy Sector & AI and have the skills and experience required, we would love to meet you!

The Gig

OGRE is an AI-based tech company, striving to empower the energy sector with accurate production, consumption and losses forecasts. Multiple Romanian and international clients are already using our AI solutions to optimize their energy flows, reduce costs for end consumers, minimize waste, and lower carbon emissions.

We’re a small team of smart, ambitious engineers and data scientists who share a passion for building impactful technology. With solid academic backgrounds – including research experience from Oxford, Cambridge, and Berkeley – and complementary expertise, we are developing a scalable and user-friendly energy forecasting and optimization platform for global organizations.

If you will ask our colleagues what they value the most about working at OGRE, you’d probably hear:

  • the opportunity to work on technology with real-world impact for the future.
  • a clear and efficient task allocation process.
  • a healthy culture of collaboration, learning, and solution-oriented thinking.
What we’re looking for:

We’re ready to grow and are searching for an experienced, self-driven data scientist to join us in building the OGRE forecasting platform. If you’re excited by AI, thrive on hands‑on work, and want to make a tangible difference in the energy sector – let’s talk. Below, you’ll find more details about this role and what you’ll be doing at OGRE.

What we offer:
  • Hybrid work with 2-4 days in the office per month. We have an ultra‑modern office in Bucharest, in one of the Globalworth buildings.
  • Build a platform that helps global clients reduce waste, costs, and carbon emissions.
  • Work alongside some of the sharpest minds in AI and energy.
Benefits
  • Attractive compensation package
  • Flexible working hours
  • Permanent contract
  • High‑tech hardware
  • Friendly and supportive team
What will you be doing?
  • Contribute to research and innovation activities aimed at developing and enhancing energy flow optimization services, as well as automating decision‑making processes by integrating predictive models and advanced algorithms.
  • Develop and optimise Python scripts for parsing, cleaning, and processing large datasets from various sources. Ensure the quality and consistency of the data through the implementation of robust pre‑processing procedures.
  • Detect anomalies or unusual data patterns and implement strategies for their resolution.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover hidden relationships and trends, utilising statistical methods and machine learning techniques.
  • Refine or develop new predictive models and machine learning algorithms to improve the accuracy of forecasts and optimisation services.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to create scalable and autonomous solutions for AI‑driven services.
What the ideal candidate should bring:
  • Strong knowledge of statistics, as well as of research and development of machine learning models.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python, including experience with relevant data science and machine learning libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit‑learn, TensorFlow).
  • Ability to efficiently work with large datasets and use SQL or other database technologies for data querying.
  • Previous experience in energy forecasting or working within the energy industry.
  • Teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with engineers, product teams, and other colleagues to achieve organisational goals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field with good experience in IT.
