mobile.de in Berlin is seeking a Data Engineer (d/f/m) for a parental leave cover/1 year fixed-term contract to join the Goudata Team. You will design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines, build data models with dbt, and collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and product managers across mobile.de.

You will work on data quality, data solutions, and explore AI-powered workflows to improve decision-making. The role offers hybrid work with opportunities for international collaboration.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in data engineering, data science, (business) computer science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands‑on experience with big data technologies in cloud environments (AWS or GCP).
• Experience building data integration pipelines using dbt, Airbyte, Airflow, Kafka, Spark, or BigQuery.
• Experience with relational databases and modern data warehouses; SQL analysis.
• Experience with BI tools such as Looker or Tableau; translate data into insights.
• Knowledge of containerization tools (Docker) and CI/CD practices.
• Interest in AI tools and LLM-assisted workflows to improve productivity.

Job description

For our data team in Berlin we are looking for a

Data Engineer (d/f/m) (parental leave cover/1 year fixed term contract )

in our Qualify, Communicate & Transact cluster. Our mission is to qualify consumers' needs and establish seamless and valuable connections between buyers and sellers, empowering successful and joyful transactions. We do this through three domains: Leasing, which enables leasing options on mobile.de and null-leasing; Lead2Sale, which empowers dealers to successfully convert the leads they receive into actual sales; and Consumer Selling, which builds tools and processes for partner dealers to trade in vehicles from private sellers, putting the private seller experience at the center. This specific role is in the Goudata Team, which acts as an enabling team, partnering with the different teams and functions across the cluster to ensure they can meet their data needs.

The Goudata Team is a dedicated Data Engineering team that works closely with the business domains across the cluster, acting as enablers for their data needs.

We are looking for a person who has strong data engineering skills, is comfortable owning stakeholder communication and managing expectations across domains. Job requirements

• Degree in data engineering, data science, (business) computer science, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands‑on experience with big data technologies in cloud environments (e.g., Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform).
• Experience building data integration pipelines and working with common data technologies such as dbt, Airbyte, Airflow, Kafka, Spark, or BigQuery.
• Experience with relational databases and modern data warehouses; ability to explore and analyze data using SQL.
• Experience with BI tools such as Looker or Tableau, including translating data into insights that support decision‑making.
• Working knowledge of containerization tools (e.g., Docker) and a foundational understanding of CI/CD practices.
• Interest in using AI tools and LLM‑assisted workflows to improve productivity and data solutions, with curiosity about practical applications in data engineering.

Job responsibilities

• Design, implement, schedule, and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines for the data lake and data warehouse, following software engineering best practices.
• Build and maintain well‑tested, well‑documented data models using dbt to support analysts and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to the creation and definition of reports and dashboards that increase transparency into business processes.
• Collaborate with analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and product managers across mobile.de; serve as a point of contact for questions about datasets within assigned domains.
• Help ensure data quality by identifying issues, coordinating resolution, and supporting preventive improvements.
• Recommend ways data can support product improvements and business decisions; evaluate and pilot new tools and approaches (including AI) when appropriate.
