We’re partnering with a technology-led organisation that builds complex, value-driven data solutions for clients operating at scale. We’re currently supporting them in hiring a skilled Data Engineer to join a growing engineering function focused on modern data platforms and architectures.
This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, platform design and delivery. You’ll work closely with experienced engineers to design and build robust data pipelines, contribute to data architecture decisions and support best practices across quality, governance and scalability.
You’ll be involved in designing and implementing data pipelines and workflows, ensuring efficient extraction, transformation and loading of data across systems. A key part of the role is monitoring and optimising pipeline performance, identifying bottlenecks and improving reliability as data volumes and complexity increase.
You’ll also support the design and development of enterprise-level data architectures, contributing to scalable and maintainable data platforms. This includes input into technical roadmaps and broader data strategy, helping shape how data initiatives are delivered across the organisation.
There’s a strong emphasis on collaboration. You’ll work alongside senior engineers, software engineers, data scientists and analysts, gaining exposure to different perspectives while building solutions that meet real business and client needs. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore new data technologies and methodologies, developing proof-of-concepts to assess their suitability.
This role suits someone with a minimum of three years’ experience in data engineering who brings a strong analytical mindset and enjoys problem-solving in complex environments.
You should have solid experience across ETL or ELT tooling, data modelling, data governance and data cataloguing. Hands-on technical experience is important, particularly with technologies such as Python, SQL and one or more of Java, Scala or Rust.
Experience working with modern data platforms and tooling is highly relevant, including environments such as Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and dbt. Familiarity with infrastructure as code, containerisation, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices will also support success in this role.
Fluency in both German and English is required due to the nature of the environment and stakeholder interaction.
