Data Center Technician Trainee, Data Center Operations

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running by supporting all AWS data centers and their servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual customer access to innovation.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest safety and security standards while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost, all within an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers ownership to completion.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly and seeks Data Center Technicians for our expanding Infrastructure Operations team as part of the Work‑Based Learning Program (WBLP). Trainees participate in a 3‑month work and training program at our Frankfurt‑area Data Centers, ensuring overall availability and reliability for our customers. Following the training period, employees may transition to full‑time permanent employment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with experienced Amazon Data Technicians during hardware and network troubleshooting.
• Provide internal workforce infrastructure support, resolving tickets related to HW (Motherboard, RAM, CPU, GPU, etc.) and networking (Link Down, Optics Replacements, Switch Replacements, etc.).
• Assist an AWS experienced Data Technician at all times.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Hardware troubleshooting in servers that are not live, under AWS Data Tech supervision.
• Understand importance of meeting service level agreements (SLAs) against assigned trouble tickets.
• Follow the AWS Data Tech during network troubleshooting.
• Replace SSD/HDD media according to AWS Data Tech guidance.
• Perform regular server hardware repairs (drives, motherboards, etc.) under guidance of experienced techs.
• Interact with third‑party vendors & contractors working on site.
