Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a facilities operations professional to own safety and reliability across critical data-center infrastructure. You will manage electrical and mechanical systems, supervise technicians, and drive continuous improvement in standard operating procedures.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and hands-on experience with UPS, HVAC, switchgear, generators, and related equipment.

  • Lead root-cause analysis with SMEs and implement mitigations.

Key job responsibilities
  • SAFETY: Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. As a facility owner team, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture.
  • ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE: Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’s), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers.
    • Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)
    • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
    • Supervise contractor or Engineering Operations Technicians to ensure proper operation and maintenance of all facility equipment.
    • Driving continuous improvement efforts on infrastructure through standardization of procedures and policies, while delivering performance against agreed metrics.
    • Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and assist inrecruiting efforts.
    • Lead the root cause analysis for operational issues, and conduct meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to finalize mitigation strategies.
Physical requirements
  • Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations).
  • Ability to work shifts (morning, late and night)
  • On-call rotation reaction to off-duty emergency calls
  • Work at heights and from ladders; in a noisy environment with ear protection
  • Perform physical tasks during the shift

  • Experience in relevant work- Can bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working- Can use hands to manipulate small wires and objects- Can walk on job sites in uneven terrain- Can work at heights and from ladders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field- Knowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage (copper/ fiber) cabling- Experience in data center engineering- Can perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tired
