Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Managerto oversee the successful delivery of a major construction package within a large-scale offshore wind project.
This role will take ownership of the construction phase from detailed planning through to execution and final handover, ensuring work is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Working across multidisciplinary teams and external contractors, you will play a key role in driving project performance and maintaining effective stakeholder collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, coordination and execution of an assigned construction package, ensuring successful delivery against project objectives.
- Develop and implement construction strategies that support programme milestones, budget targets and quality expectations.
- Monitor progress throughout the construction phase, identifying issues early and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Build, develop and lead a high-performing construction team, ensuring appropriate resources are in place throughout the project.
- Manage contractors and specialist suppliers to ensure contractual obligations, performance standards and project requirements are achieved.
- Foster a collaborative working environment across internal teams and external delivery partners.
- Champion a strong health, safety and environmental culture across all construction activities.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with applicable legislation, industry regulations and project quality standards.
- Take ownership of construction performance across cost, programme, quality and scope.
- Provide accurate progress reporting, highlighting key achievements, risks and mitigation measures to senior project stakeholders.
- Support effective change management and maintain clear project documentation throughout delivery.
- Coordinate activities across engineering, procurement, commissioning and project management teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Manage interfaces between multiple contractors, package managers and external stakeholders.
- Identify and manage construction-related risks, implementing mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery.
- Ensure project documentation, permitting requirements and execution readiness are maintained throughout the construction phase.
Experience:
- Significant experience managing construction packages on large-scale offshore wind projects or comparable major infrastructure developments.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex construction activities involving multiple contractors and stakeholders.
- Experience overseeing transport, installation and commissioning activities within offshore environments is highly desirable.
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management or a related technical discipline.
- Professional project management qualification (such as PMP, IPMA or equivalent) would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of offshore construction methodologies, project delivery principles and engineering processes.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, programme management and project controls.
- Good understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation relevant to large infrastructure projects.
- Proven leadership capabilities with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to oversee multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets and contractor performance.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships across international project teams.
- Analytical mindset with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Flexibility to travel internationally and work across project locations as required.
