ATMOS Space Cargo in Lichtenau seeks a Composite Technician to build the composite structures and thermal protection hardware for re-entry capsules. You will work hands-on turning drawings and ply books into flight hardware—from lay-up and curing through trimming, bonding and final assembly.

You will collaborate with structures and manufacturing engineers on prototypes and process trials, refining lay-up procedures and ensuring proper documentation and traceability.

Aufgaben

• Manufacture primary and secondary composite structures using prepreg, wet lay-up, vacuum bagging, and oven/autoclave curing.
• Prepare moulds/tools, apply release systems, cut and kit carbon and glass fibre with ply-book specs.
• Trim, drill, bond parts, install inserts, support fit checks on capsule assemblies.
• Inspect laminates, perform scarf and patch repairs, document build records and NCRs.
• Maintain material traceability, shelf-life and out-time logs; work with engineers on trials.

ATMOS Space Cargo is seeking a Composite Technician to build the composite structures and thermal protection hardware of our re-entry capsules. You will work hands-on in our Lichtenau facility alongside our structures and manufacturing engineers, turning drawings and ply books into flight hardware - from lay-up and curing through trimming, bonding and final assembly.

Key responsibilities

• You will manufacture primary and secondary composite structures for our re-entry capsules using prepreg and wet hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, and oven or autoclave curing.
• You will prepare moulds and tooling, apply release systems, and cut and kit carbon fibre, glass fibre and ablative materials to ply-book specification.
• You will trim, drill, bond and assemble cured parts, install inserts and fasteners, and support fit checks on capsule assemblies.
• You will inspect and repair laminates - dimensional checks, and scarf and patch repairs on damaged or out-of-tolerance parts.
• You will document your work in build records and non-conformance reports and keep material traceability, shelf-life and out-time logs up to date.
• You will work closely with our structures and thermal protection engineers on prototypes and process trials, and help refine lay-up and curing procedures for flight hardware.

Profile required

• Two or more years of hands-on experience in composite manufacturing or repair — aerospace, motorsport, wind energy or marine.
• Practical command of prepreg and wet lay-up, vacuum bagging, oven/autoclave curing, and post-processing (trimming, drilling, adhesive bonding).
• Confident reading of technical drawings, ply books and work instructions, with careful and consistent documentation habits.
• Fluent English as our working language and willingness to work on site in Lichtenau; German is an advantage.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with thermal protection systems, ablative materials or high-temperature resin systems.
• Experience in a prototype or small-series environment where processes are still being defined.
