Mercury Engineering seeks an experienced Commissioning Engineer in Frankfurt to lead the commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and control systems within a data centre environment.

You will develop and execute commissioning scripts, coordinate with design teams, and manage documentation to ensure safe, efficient, and design-aligned operation. Experience with FAT/SAT and handover is valued.

Qualifikationen

• Degree or qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• Proven experience commissioning systems in data centres or large-scale MEP projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, sequence‑of‑operations and interdependencies.
• Experience with BMS/EPMS and controls integration.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications.

Scope of the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Commissioning Engineer to join our mission‑critical delivery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and validating the commissioning of mechanical, electrical, controls, and integrated systems within a new-build data centre environment. This role ensures that all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with design intent, client requirements, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

General

• Produce or review commissioning scripts, test procedures, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments.
• Coordinate with design engineers to ensure commissioning requirements are incorporated into drawings and specifications.
• Maintain a commissioning schedule aligned with construction and client milestones.
• Manage commissioning documentation including test sheets, reports, redlines, and turnover packages.
• Provide daily/weekly commissioning progress updates.
• Communicate risks, issues, and change impacts to project management.
• Present commissioning results and sign‑off documentation to client stakeholders.
• Support training for facilities operations teams.
• Ensure the adherence to safety and quality standards
• Attend and co‑ordinate weekly meetings with the client, subcontractors & suppliers

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and OEM requirements.
• Identify defects and manage punch‑list closeout.
• Record test results accurately and produce comprehensive commissioning reports.

Safety & Documentation

• Ensure commissioning activities follow all site safety protocols, including LOTO and permit systems.
• Compile and deliver turnover documentation, including test forms, redlines, O&M manuals, and final reports.
• Work closely with OEMs during FAT/SAT and during on‑site commissioning.
• Coordinate with construction teams to ensure systems are installation‑ready for testing.
• Liaise with client representatives and support handover readiness.

Essential Criteria for the Role:

• Degree or qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• Proven experience commissioning systems in data centres, critical facilities, or large‑scale MEP projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, sequence‑of‑operations, and system interdependencies.
• Experience with BMS/EPMS and controls integration.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Competent in safety practices, including LOTO, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Ability to work as part of a team & work on own initiative
• Proficient in use of CAD and Database systems related to Engineering functions
• Familiarwith Project /Primaveraplanning software
