Oranda Therapeutics (“Oranda”) are building a pan European pharmaceutical company, and the Commercial Lead for Germany is amongst our first hires. The Commercial Lead will play a decisive role in establishing and developing our company’s go-to-market strategy and commercial operations in Germany, during the mission critical early years. For the right candidate, this assignment will provide an opportunity to grow the role scope and responsibility in line with their ambitions and our company’s growth goals.
This is a field based commercial role. Extensive weekly travel within Country is anticipated. European travel is expected on up to four to six occasions per annum.
Key responsibilities - Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer
Leadership and Country/Cluster Management
- Foster an affiliate culture consistent with Oranda values, vision and mission.
- Ensure all business is conducted in full compliance with all legal and ethical requirements.
- Create and maintain trust-based relationships with patient advocacy groups, healthcare professionals, policymakers, payors, industry associations and regulators to advance Oranda’s organisational priorities.
- Lead the planning and execution of product launches in Germany, championing local needs in the development of corporate market access strategies, pricing, education programmes and sales and marketing campaigns.
- Lead the selection, contract negotiation and successful execution and achievement of objectives (with both internal and external stakeholder support) utilising local consultants and contractors.
- Contribute to Oranda’s overall strategy and provide timely input to executive management on opportunities, challenges, and risks, and adjust country plans as needed.
- Represent the company in local country healthcare policy forums and industry associations, advocating for policies that promote patient access to medicines and a positive environment for start-ups
Planning and Execution
- Be accountable for achieving agreed business and P&L objectives through the design and execution of intelligent, compliant, commercial activities.
- Work closely with regulatory consultants to secure best and fastest pathways to MA approvals in Germany.
- Develop and implement product specific reimbursement strategies and lead pricing negotiations with German payors.
- Work with Medical Affairs colleagues to identify the needs of patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and system payers to inform the design and implement compliant value‑added support and services.
- Lead development and implementation of organisational and commercial plans for Germany in line with company strategy.
- Set and report on key business and financial performance metrics.
- Develop and manage the German P&L including the country operations budget, ensuring resource allocation and investment is appropriately gated to revenue milestones.
- Be a fully engaged player‑manager, driving commercial success through utilising a key account management approach.
- Provide both strategic and hand‑on leadership for the German key account management team.
- Implement a basic but robust CRM that provides adequate visibility and control over commercial activities to you and the executive management team.
Required Skills, Experience and Education
- A university degree, preferably in Business or Life Sciences.
- Demonstrable deep understanding of German healthcare system and key stakeholders.
- Proficiency using Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint).
- 7+ years of relevant experience in key account management with a documented track record of commercial success, including experience with successful product launches.
- Experience of participating in successful market access (pricing and reimbursement) negotiations.
- Demonstrable commercial acumen and financially savvy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across functions and cultures.
- Demonstrable ability to build trusted relationships across an organization and externally to facilitate effective collaboration with payers, policymakers, KOLs and patient associations.
- Proactive, solution‑oriented mindset and ability to thrive in a start‑up environment.
- A ‘hands‑on’ mentality work ethic with a sense of urgency to deliver results.
- Proactive, tenacious and solution‑oriented with the capacity to thrive in the ambiguity of a start‑up company.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Fluent in German and proficient (verbal and written) in English.
- A full driving licence.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with rare diseases and/or high value medicines.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within the biopharmaceutical industry.
