Checkout Charlie GmbH in Berlin is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to own and evolve our cloud infrastructure. You will work hands-on with AWS, Kubernetes, and EKS, driving reliability, security, and scalable automation in a small technical team.

You will monitor systems, implement IaC with Terraform/Helm, and collaborate across teams in a fast-paced, security-conscious environment. Fluent English is required; German is a plus.

What you´ll do:

• Operate, further develop, and automate our cloud infrastructure based on AWS, Kubernetes, and EKS
• Provision infrastructure resources and support architecture and security-related topics
• Monitor systems, analyze incidents, and troubleshoot issues to ensure stable and highly available environments
• Implement operational and security-related processes such as backup validation, credential rotation, access management, and resource cleanup
• Provide operational support in day-to-day business and step in for teammates when needed

What you bring:

• Hands‑on experience with core AWS services such as EC2, RDS, and IAM
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
• Solid Linux knowledge in both server and desktop environments
• Basic understanding of databases and storage technologies
• Basic knowledge of networking and cybersecurity
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Confidence working in environments with strict security requirements
• A structured, reliable, and security‑conscious way of working
• Experience using AI‑assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code or similar solutions
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Helm) is a plus
• Experience with managed application platforms such as Vercel or Heroku is a plus
• Fluent English (working language); German is a plus
