Job summary

Virtusa seeks a Cloud/Edge Software Architect to translate business needs into scalable, edge-to-cloud solutions in Azure. You will lead architectural design for healthcare-grade products, driving device connectivity, MQTT messaging, and secure CI/CD across distributed teams.

You will mentor engineers, produce architecture artifacts, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while aligning with enterprise roadmaps and standards.

Qualifications

• Proven Software Architect experience on .NET and Azure in production environments.
• Strong expertise in Azure IoT Hub and MQTT design and failure-mode handling.
• Containers and OCI ecosystem: Docker/containerd, image build & distribution, container security basics.
• Kubernetes: architecture and operations fundamentals.

• Governs CI/CD, code quality, security-by-design, reliability, performance and observability.
• Produce architecture documentation (ADRs, diagrams) and communicate with business and technical stakeholders.

Role: Cloud/Edge Software Architect

Location: Bad Homburg or Scweinfurt Germany

The Product/Software Architect translates business and stakeholder needs into an implementable technical solution. Working with Product Owners/Managers, Business Analysts, Tech Leads, and application specialists, they shape features, refine user stories, and ensure architectural readiness for delivery. They lead technical design, produce and maintain architecture documentation (incl. diagrams), govern non-functional requirements, and support teams throughout implementation. The role collaborates closely with the Enterprise Architecture group to align with target architecture, standards, and roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Define scalable Azure and On-Prem architectures based on microservices for healthcare-grade products, with strong focus on IoT and edge-to-cloud solutions.
• Design device connectivity and messaging using Azure IoT Hub and MQTT (telemetry, commands, device twin patterns, provisioning/lifecycle).
• Lead technical workshops, mentor teams, and perform architecture/code reviews.
• Govern CI/CD, code quality, security-by-design, reliability, performance, and operational readiness (observability, rollout/upgrade strategies).
• Produce clear technical documentation (architecture views, ADRs, UML/sequence diagrams) and communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven Software Architect experience on .NET and Azure in production environments.
• Strong expertise in Azure IoT Hub and MQTT design and failure-mode handling (reconnect, QoS, offline scenarios, backpressure).
• Containers and OCI ecosystem: Docker/containerd, image build & distribution, container security basics.
• Kubernetes: architecture and operations fundamentals (deployments, services, ingress, config/secrets, scaling, upgrades).
• Edge computing: designing and operating local clusters on the edge, including constrained/offline environments; familiarity with hypervisors and virtualization concepts used for edge deployments.
• Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills; professional English; experience in international/multicultural teams.
• Some expertise on Embedded development (ARM, x86).
• Healthcare / medical device regulations and standards: IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971; GDPR.
• Threat modeling and IoT security (certs/PKI, device identity, rotation).
