The big picture:

Axios is a modern media company dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We are hiring a Local Branded Content Writer to join our brand studio team!

Why it matters:

The Local Branded Content Writer will develop branded content for Axios’ local advertising partners. As a member of the Branded Content team, you will work with the Branded Content Editor and local revenue partners to build and maintain thought leadership, community-based, and brand marketing campaigns in our trademark Smart Brevity style.

In this highly collaborative role, we are looking for someone with strong writing and editing skills to create native branded content for local audiences that appears on the Axios website, in our newsletters, and at our events. Our ideal candidate is fast, thorough, able to hit daily deadlines, and works well across teams and markets.

With the guidance of an editor, candidates must be able to craft original sponsored content and, where necessary, conduct research on local issues, industries, and communities across a range of brands and markets. Ideal candidates will embody an entrepreneurial spirit, a strong understanding of local audience storytelling, and a passion for Axios’ mission, and have the following skills:

• Writing experience in a branded, local editorial, or community-focused content capacity
• Passion for thought leadership, service journalism, and storytelling on behalf of brands
• Demonstrated ability to research and brainstorm themes and messaging that align with client goals and resonate with specific local audiences
• Strong understanding of how to translate brand messaging into stories that feel relevant, useful, and authentic in local markets
• Ability to work across multiple markets, industries, and campaign types while maintaining quality and consistency
• Experience writing for newsletters, websites, event materials, and social platforms
• Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify the most audience-relevant angle within a sponsor’s message
• Comfort with live interviews to assist in the creation and production of branded content
• Familiarity working on small creative teams to create client-driven materials
• Design, infographic, social video or AI-assisted content workflow skills are a plus

Starting salary for this role is in the range of $55,000 - $85,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other benefits.
