About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Backend Developer with a passion for shaping the technological direction of AI-driven solutions. In this role, you will go beyond routine ticket handling and actively influence the architecture and design of scalable backend systems. You will leverage your extensive experience in backend development to create innovative solutions, making critical decisions regarding software architecture, APIs, data models, and system integrations. A key aspect of this position involves utilizing modern AI coding tools such as Codex, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar agents to enhance productivity and code quality. You will be responsible for developing modern AI-supported applications, integrating external systems, and working closely with product managers, domain experts, and fellow developers to turn technological possibilities into practical, deployable solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to embed AI coding tools into daily development workflows, enabling faster, more efficient, and secure software delivery while maintaining high standards of code quality and security.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess between 7 to 10 years of professional experience in backend development, with a solid understanding of software architecture, API design, database management, and automated testing. You should have proven expertise in at least one established backend technology such as Python, Java, C#, TypeScript, or Node.js. A thorough understanding of version control systems like Git, as well as CI/CD workflows, is essential. Additionally, you should have demonstrable experience working with AI coding agents such as Codex, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot, including prompt engineering, context management, and quality assurance of AI-generated code. Strong ownership mentality, excellent collaboration skills, and the ability to transfer knowledge effectively are crucial. Proficiency in German is required, alongside good English language skills, to facilitate seamless communication within our diverse team.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing complex backend solutions from initial concept through to production deployment. You will take ownership of software architecture, define API specifications, data models, and ensure seamless system integrations. A significant part of your role involves employing AI coding tools productively for tasks such as implementation, refactoring, testing, and troubleshooting. You will critically evaluate AI-generated code for quality, security, and maintainability, ensuring that standards are consistently met. Collaborating closely with product teams, domain experts, and fellow developers, you will help develop AI-enabled applications and services, integrating large language model (LLM) APIs and external systems. You will also contribute to establishing and maintaining development standards, best practices, and technological innovations within the team.
