Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for the Head & Neck Oncology Department. The role supports surgeons, assists in the OR, and provides patient care across inpatient and operative settings. You will collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes in complex cancer cases.

The ideal candidate has APRN or PA training, surgical/or oncology experience, and an active Florida license. BLS/ACLS are required, with RNFA or robotic experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program.
• Active FL medical license and certification by the appropriate accreditation body.
• Active BLS and ACLS.
• Experience in surgery/OR, oncology or internal medicine; RNFA or robotic experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Correlates data to form differential diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Performs medical exams and admits patients to surgical services.
• Responds to inpatient consult requests for Head & Neck specialty.
• Assists in the OR and may perform minor surgical procedures.
• Prescribes medications within scope of practice.
• Documents patient care per medical staff rules.

Summary

Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant –Head & Neck Oncology Department– Procedural

Based in the Head & Neck Department , thisposition splitbetween inpatient and OR (assisting in surgery) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position provides patient care under the auspices of the Moffitt Medical Group (MMG), supports departmentHead & Neck Oncology Surgeons , and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise; advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.

Position Highlights

• Assists physicians with the evaluation, management and treatment of a wide spectrum of patients with differentsurgical andmedical problems, procedures and co-morbidities.
• Assists physicians in the OR and during surgery
• Works within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physician(s) or by specific protocol(s).

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care as a member of an interdisciplinary team, working with many specialists to coordinate and optimize patient care.
• Correlates subjective and objective data to formulate a differential or working diagnosis.
• Formulates treatment plans for medical conditions within scope of practice.
• Perform medical exams and admit patients to the surgical services of the Head & Neck Program.
• May respond to inpatient consult requests for the Head & Neck specialty, assess the patient and escalates as necessary.
• May perform minor surgical procedures within scope of practice.
• Prescribes oral and IV medications when appropriate, within the scope of practice.
• Documents patient care in accordance with medical staff rules.
• Assist in the OR in lieu of or in addition to, a Surgical Resident or Fellow.

Additional Information

This position with specifically work with Surgical Oncologists in the treatment and management of their patients. . They will also assist in the OR with covering surgical cases with a supervising MD. They may assist the inpatient and outpatient care team under the guidance of the attending. This position will work closely with Residents and Fellows to care for the Surgical oncology patients.

Credentials and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree at minimum; master’s degree preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program.
• Active FL medical license (or the ability to obtain one) and certification by the appropriate accreditation body.
• Active BLS and ACLS.
• Experience insurgery/OR,oncology or general internal medicine; experience specific to the specialty preferred.
• Experience as a First Assist/Bedside Assist in the OR preferred, Robotic Experience a plus, RNFA Certification a plus (if APRN).

Salary Range

$122,483.40 - $186,763.20

Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
