SIXT is seeking an Applied AI Engineer Intern (m/f/d) to design and build AI-powered solutions at scale. You will work with production-grade AI automation frameworks and agentic workflows, deploying prototypes into production environments at a global mobility company.

As a Master's student in a STEM field, you will contribute across the full product lifecycle, benchmark GenAI frameworks, and collaborate with engineers while writing clean Python code in a hybrid, fast-paced environment.

Qualifikationen

• Currently enrolled in a Master's program in a STEM field with strong technical foundation.
• Proficient in Python and machine learning concepts, demonstrated via projects or coursework.
• Familiar with GenAI frameworks and agentic patterns (LangChain, MCP).
• Experience with API development and containerization (FastAPI, Docker).
• Able to communicate in German and collaborate across teams.

YOUR ROLE AT SIXT

• You support the design and development of scalable, production-ready AI automation frameworks and agentic workflows that integrate into SIXT's technology ecosystem
• You help translate complex business challenges into technical solutions, exploring agentic architectures, MCP integrations, predictive models, and neural networks
• You contribute across the full product lifecycle — from prototyping and API development to deployment — in close collaboration with our Software Engineering teams
• You experiment with and benchmark modern GenAI frameworks, evaluate the most effective approach for a given problem, and share your learnings with the team
• You write clean, well-structured Python code and actively contribute to our tech stack
• You collaborate with engineers and business leaders, turning requirements into impactful, working data products

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

• Academic Background You are currently enrolled in a Master's program in a STEM field (e.g. Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering) and bring a strong technical foundation, with strong academic performance
• Programming You write clean Python code and have a solid understanding of core computer science and machine learning concepts, demonstrated through university projects, coursework, or personal work
• AI Expertise You are familiar with modern GenAI frameworks and agentic patterns (e.g. LangChain, MCP) and have hands‑on exposure to Deep Learning frameworks and classical ML libraries like scikit‑learn or XGBoost
• Technical Know-How You are comfortable working with Git, have first experience with API development (e.g. FastAPI) and containerization tools like Docker; exposure to cloud platforms is a plus
• Product Mindset & Execution You focus on real impact and combine solid technical depth with a hands‑on, get‑things‑done mentality — picking the most effective solution whether that means simple heuristics, a classical ML model, or a complex neural network — and thrive in fast‑paced, high‑ownership environments
• Communication You translate complex AI concepts and black‑box logic into clear insights for both technical and non‑technical audiences and communicate fluently in German
